a rock or spear can around 70% of the time (depends on lizard bites survival rate) if you throw quick enough, like there is around a second of time to do the throw after getting grabbed. also take into account like a 10% chance you miss the throw entirely (either wrong direction or it phases through the lizard like if bro didn't exist.) vultures (if they have their mask on) aren't actually very dangerous even if you get grabbed, as you can't get instakilled, meaning you can always retaliate as long as you keep a rock or spear on yourself even saint can spear a vulture in it's campaign, on expeditions it has the worlds cringest spear throw, i think it's literally just an oversight from the fact vulture grabs work like lizard bites but without any chance to die, but saint dies to lizard bites every single time no matter what so they probably thought it wouldn't have any effect to bother removing the spear throw retaliaton, but then it made vultures the only stabbable thing for saint lol.

Another simple one is that you can hold down while on a ledge to “freefall” or rag doll down the ledge. This is useful for rolling as it allows for rolling off of much smaller ledges much faster.

And you can pounce after rolling too, and infinite rolls if you do the same thing after a roll pounce

Back flipping is extremely helpful in combat and makes you a harder target to hit/ grab unless your at the zenith of your jump.

Small correction. You said “side flip” at the beginning while instead you meant “back flip”, side flips or whiplashes are instead a very quick and much more difficult flip performed by hitting back and jump while doing a slide that has already lasted long enough to do a rocket jump (long pounce from the latter half of a slide)

You can roll from flips, slides, and pounces, crouches with some fiddling, even just a very small change in the ground elevation (downward), not just falls from height. With analog sticks there are things like fast rolls. I’m no good at the movement in this game, but I did read the absurdly detailed Movement Guide 😅

I think it depends on what you play with most really. Joystick is significantly harder, I'll agree on that because it doesn't have a speed ramp so any movement is just max speed. I use the D-Pad.
