In this video we're listening to another selection from Rainbow. We were really impressed with this band on the first listen, so we're excited to hear what else they've done. Enjoy!

From this album, there is an absolute classic that was very different live. Man on the silver mountain, is just incredible

Glad the cat liked it! One reviewer likened the guitar solos here to Peter Green. The emotion is undeniable. Tear-jerking, even.

One of my favorite Rainbow songs and the Live 1977 Munich live version is incredible, worth checking out but it is about 18 minutes long. Ronnie's vocals are so good in this song. Yes Ritchie use to borrow from Jimi Hendrix and others and I am sure he borrowed a little bit on this song, but Ritchie made it his own.

We have no problem with that. Musicians commonly "steal" from the bands they're listening to at the time. Musicians are influenced by other musicians.

Yeah, that 1977 Munich live concert is really great over all and luckily its all on video since they filmed it for TV.

Best version of this song is on the " on stage " version. It's very long though but we'll worth the listening.dio is incredible on it.

Nicely done! Awesome song - but, as mentioned below, nothing like the live versions! For me, the best one to go for is the original live track off of "On Stage" - 3 times longer, but the fade and re-entry in the instrumental part are the best few seconds of music ever captured! Also agree with the suggestions of Stargazer, Eyes of the World, Rainbow Eyes etc - and you may like to try out one of his instrumentals, ie "Maybe Next Time" or "Weiss Heim" - where me makes the guitar cry like no other!

Ritchie was a well known " musical thief " and he was the first to admit it. Ritchie like Jon Lord used to often steal from classical composers, and that is where Smoke on the water came from, it was a Beethoven thing that he just did in reverse.

Really like Page didn't steal for Willie Dixon and others. They all steal riffs. The difference is Ritchie Blackmore is honest Jimmy Page lies. Gets sued and loses.

Who replaced who? May be Ritchie gave to all of them job?😄. Elf was nothing, Ritchie used them to record first album, then he hired really great line up with Cozy.

@@elenka.svaliva2 Elf was support act to Deep purple in the first half of the 70´s and Dio had been singing with these guys for quite a while, Elf eleased three albums. Ritche got to know them on the tour that they shared.

My next " Dio " suggestion is Black Sabbath, Falling off the edge of the world. I haven't seen any reactions on this one just yet but I suppose that with The Charismatic Voice being such a huge Dio fan, it's only a matter of time. Also, Rainbow MK 4 doing Eyes of the world. Graham Bonnet on the vocals this time.

Clapton didn't influence to Ritchie, come on, Blackmore was from the same generation as Clapton, but Ritchie was way a head of all guitar players from that era. Clapton is a sloopy bluesy player. Also anyone who uses neck pickup is sounds like Clapton for you?😫😄

Ritchie Blackmore is better. Blew Clampton off the stage in Deep Purple first US tour. Jimmy Hendrix to Eric to his face Blackmore blew his doors off.

Might be one of the longest fades in recorded history. Rainbow Eyes runs it close. On the one hand it is obviously reminiscent of Little Wing, on the other it is in a different key and the progressions are not the same. The biggest problem with this track is that it is a pale shadow of what the song would become on stage, so this is a version I rarely listen to.
