Rest in peace dearest Judith. The last chance I got to see The Seekers live was their 2014 Liverpool performance. What really hit home with me was finally seeing Judith's diminutive physical stature live on stage. Such a delicate, tiny little morsel of humanity, showing the strength and determination to continue on with a farewell tour after all she had been through .... That alone left me spellbound.

Thank you for spotlighting Judith Durham, my favorite vocalist ever. It's a shame that Americans had such restricted exposure to The Seekers back in the 60s, mostly due to their manager's lack of promotion. They've been my favorite group for nearly 60 years. Even their 50th Anniversary Reunion concerts were incredible, with many saying they sounded even BETTER than they had in the 60s!

It’s so incredibly rare to find an artist who is basically pitch perfect throughout their entire range, and that is so pleasant to hear by itself. But combine that not only with an amazing tone and resonance, but also a vibrato frequency that is in that very narrow range that is in the comfort zone, and you have a voice which literally flows through you, and warms your soul. You can close yours, lie back and simply get lost in Judith’s voice.

Judith Durham was one of the great, yet underrated, voices of her time both with the various incarnations of the Seekers and her solo work. Her voice was just as good on their farewell tour in 2013 as it always was. The Seekers recording session at Apple Studios is an all-time treat: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYvJZWSLqsl0mKs

@@FM-jg1yr and beloved here in Canada too, yet find me an American "music historian" or general music fan who recognizes her name ... unfortunately their opinions outweigh the rest of us because they've got the stage on such things ... mediocre US performers become "legends" just by dint of being 'Murkins ... they've got closed ears to others ... quick now, Judith or Leslie Gore?

Underrated by whom? Usaans? They don't count, they're insignificant.

Certainly not underrated - she was so admired at the time of their hits and still sounded great fifty years later.

Judith’s voice cuts through the air and enters your soul. Good singers delight your ears but the great ones reach your hearts.

Actually what you have explained are things we as fans know and listen too but we do not know why. We get so drawn in by her voice and cannot stop enjoying her from the start of each song she sings all the way to the end of the song. She is going to be so missed.

The Seekers were a great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. And Judith had such a beautiful voice. They had so many great hits including "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World Of Our Own", "Georgy Girl", "The Carnival Is Over", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies. They don't make nostalgic music like this anymore. Reminds me of a simpler time.

She really didn't need the orchestral accompaniment but it wisely did not over power her voice. A lovely performance from a wonderful singer. It is criminal that The Seekers didn't get more exposure here in the States. Their fan base would have been huge here.

Her vibrato is in consonance with the tempo of the music. She slurs up and down by breaking the overall change in pitch into small steps, each step being equal in pitch-change as well as equal in length of time. Beautiful.

Judith's voice is a gift from nature to her, and her performances are gifts from her to us. She is one of the greatest singers not only of her own time, but of all times.

Excellent analysis of Judith's voice, she had a voice a vocal could not teach anything to. First time I heard this version, by the end my eyes were wet for some reason? In the gospel song "When the stars begin to fall" she hits a F# above high C effortlessly. Just an amazing voice, glad you covered her, love the channel.

Straight away Fil, I never liked "Danny Boy", this song was never my cup of tea, so it needs a small miracle to let me listen thru the whole song.....well, the miracle just happened! Sometimes a voice hits you right from the beginning, I am not talking about technique here, I am talking about emotions. It is for me the same as comparing "O mio babbino caro" from Puccini sung by Kiri te Kanawa (excellent technique) and Maria Callas, when I hear the version of Callas I am almost moved to tears.......... As for the 60's, there were so many great female voices, out of my head: Judith Durham, Vikki Carr, Cilla Black, Julie Rogers, Shirley Bassey, and many many more.........and I am not even up to the MALE voices! Thumbs up from The Netherlands!

There is something that toches you very deep, in Judith´s voice. Something that touches the soul.
Comparing Karen Carpenter's LIVE and STUDIO vocals just BLEW MY MIND!!!
