I think what makes this doll stand out in my perspective is the actual eye color (and even more so when combined with her skin tone). The deep-colored eyes look INCREDIBLE on her. Darker eye colors are completely underrated and are absolutely mesmerizing to me.

I am opening her right now while watching you and she is just absolutely beautiful! I love that she is Mariah Carey inspired. I wore some of these fashions back in my youth. Some would add "unfortunately" to the end of that sentence, but I loved that era. I truly feel a kinship to you as my arthritic 51 year old hands attempt to free these dolls from their plastic prisons. Lol. So worth it, though. Keep up your contagious enthusiasm for all things dolls! ❤️

Kias hair is SUPER thinly rooted compared to the other dolls it’s hard to style her because she’s so bald in the back I don’t understand why they made her more expensive but used way less hair on her. The only doll I have that’s as bald as her is sunny who needs thinner hair for her sailor moon buns to look right

Teen doll collector here! 👋 I think MGA made a great choice with the whole "even though they arent making a lot of money right now, they are growing the rainbow high brand and will make more money once it's more established" I got into rainbow high (I own everyone but the cheer dolls but I plan on adding them to my collection i just havent gotten the chance yet) and then once I was like "wow these are great, what else does MGA do?" And then I got into the OMG dolls so even though they arent making alot of profit right now they are at the very least showing what they can do and also gaining more customers that will buy there other dolls too :)))

I am pretty sure she said that is what she wants to believe, not what MGA is actually doing. They are a toy company, mass produced toys are usually inexpensive to make, it's usually the cost of moulds that's expensive. Barbie for example cost about 1-3 to magnufacure, each doll not including cost of accessories or clothes. If business didn't make at least half of the cost of production back, they would go bankrupt. Which is why Mattel stopped making MH, that appealed to niche adults doll collectors, and decided to regain popularity with young girls and their mothers, but it was too little too late.

@@mccross9050 if you look at all the details and materials (the buckles on the shoes are actually painted, the clothes have real layers without the fabric being painted on) it has to be more expensive than the average fashion doll also I'm sure the dolls MGA makes are more expensive to make since they have more articulation, they have rooted lashes, and inset eyes, then you need to look at everyone else they have to pay, I highly doubt once everything is payed for they are still making at least half of what it costs to make but the reason they are ok with it is 1. They are growing the rainbow high brand and 2. They are gaining more loyal customers to buy there other products

@@jaekacz4919 , you are a young person, so I don't want to be rude and I'll just say you can research cost of production in Asian countries, specifically China. That's how stores can afford to do clearance at super low prices compared to the original retail. Cost of mass produced toys for kids, it's not expensive. For mass production, of course for tiny companies or individuals it would be costly.

You could also use tiny glue dots to keep the shoes on! My violet had the same problem with the shoe being too big for her foot.

If it's the full rainbow spectrum, it's holographic, if it's only two colors (usually blues and pinks) it's iridescent. *:)* Hope this helps! lol

Her rainbow heels also gave me a lot of trouble - I put double sided garment tape in the soles to correct it lol - so it's definitely not just you. When looking at why she's more I definitely think it comes down to that second outfit, specifically the details put into bejeweling the shorts and all the work went into this actually embroidered denim jacket. Definitely a bump up - and maybe making the whole box heart shaped/like a box of chocolates would've had people reacting more favorable to the price increase for her? - but I found that I really adore her so no regrets on picking her up.

My Kia is the Rainbow High doll that just keeps giving. Her earring broke, her hair got dry after an 8 hour car ride, the jell was not fun, her second outfit is a no no and her stand is basically broken. Haha still love her! Her hair is amazing

The rainbow shoes are cool pity they fall off easy and her second pair of shoes definitely give me MH Cupid vibes. The jacket is amazing and both outfit look really cool. I got mine at dirt cheap for $20. Often if the rainbow high dolls have been there for a long time their prices will drop, but by that time their boxes are damaged and quite often I see someone just rips off the box holding the second outfit. I got to mine within the week, so her box is perfect and nothing is stolen. (Although I saw Finn rosado in a box that was absolutely destroyed and wrapped in clear duct tape, he still had all of his accessories and his surfboard in the box)

Great review as always! As with Blythe dolls, I think her head is way too big and heavy with the eyes and volume of the hair to get a neck peg that can withstand all this without eventually breaking after extended play, leaving customers more disappointed than they are with the lack of neck articulation.

I'm in NS right now and regular RH dolls are already 40 CAD, which is roughly $31, before tax. Hopefully they won't mark her up too much. I like this one because she is not so stuck in one color scheme. I hope more future releases aren't color specific. It's weird that she has 2 white hoodies, switch it up a little, but the outfits are nice.

She was one of the first dolls I got, it was her and Luna ^-^ she's so cute but the hairspray made me sad as it didn't look like a lot until I got her out of the box- 😅😭 As a autistic female that loves textures the hairspray can be a turnoff but at least it's easy to remove-! Hallelujah-!

Great review! I love this doll and want her sooo much! I'm in Canada though, so really hoping I can get my hands on her soon. She's already selling for exorbitant prices on the selling sites. For the shoes, what I've done with other dolls, is to use a bit of moistened paper towel and shove it in the toes to make them tighter. For open toes, I just put a strip of double-sided tape on the foot of the shoe ;)

Well, she really do need Hair Spa. If I could. I could divide her side hairs so the gelled ones remains for style, and then I'm gonna wash the part that i have left and set it behind so the hair behind will be thicker along with the twin braids extension? I finally got my hands on Kia, love her to bits, but she's got paint flecks on her face and her lips are in bad condition. I did contact MGA about it, but since I am in neither USA or Canada, they will not help me. Also I only rinsed her hair in coolish water, I've noticed, and maybe it's my conditioner I use, but the other girls hair isn't as soft anymore, but since just rinsing Kia's hair, it's still silky soft.

I'm wondering if they purposefully made the rainbow heels too big so you could mix and match and wear the tube socks with them. I still think it's a poor design for them not to fit without a fix of some kind but I can see how they may have made the error in the first place at least...
