I've become a chrome fiend. I've been wanting a way to make my nails look like metal since I was a kid. Loving Trapeze, purple and blue are my weakness lol. Just a little tip, I found that using the eye shadow stick works better with the chromes and the tool with the holo. Might just be me but I get it perfect in one coat that way.

Weird pet peeve: macro lenses do not "see" more than the naked eye. Macro is not micro. True macro is literally 1:1 ratio. It "sees" exactly what the naked eye sees, relative to distance from the subject. This is why microscopes aren't called "macroscopes." ;) Edit to add: you and your videos are delightful. I used a 1-step gel so there is no sticky layer to remove! I assume you would have to remove the sticky layer on other types of gels 😀

To use them with regular polish you can use one of those gel like top coats, have you seen the Sally Hansen one? You don't have to cure it with a light. And then use a water based top coat to seal in the powder. Little Ondine and Piggy Paints make a water based top coat. Do you watch Elleandish here on KZbin? She made a vid about using powders with regular polish 😄

Thanks! I find not bringing the polish all the way to the edges of the nails helps because then the gel top coat can go completely over the powder underneath and helps with the bumpiness :D HTH!

I have not experimented myself with this stuff, but I hear that will not work; the mirror will "break." However a water-based topcoat is an alternative to a gel one. I also just saw that Superchic Lacquer is about to bring out a sticky base that you can burnish powder right over. I did not see a water based top coat coming from her, though... at least yet.

I have the UNT Sun Envy (similar, cures in normal light) and I also ordered the water based topcoat I linked. I am going to try them both :)

I was confused and came here to see your coupon code for Superchic, and this video was actually about Twinkled T, but your code still worked anyway heh! So as of today Superchic has a topcoat refill in stock, and -- ON TOPIC -- a new sticky base coat called G-force that is meant for burnishing. I just ordered! Now, I have an excuse to order powders LOL! I am thinking G-force might also work like Yellow Stopper when stamping. It is supposed to dry to a tacky surface in about a minute.

I've tried all 4 according to the gel polish application and none of them looked as mirror finish as on the video? I paid $65 for 4 -1gram containers of this powder and was so excited to use it then saw the results that look like any old chrome polish with a frosty finish not mirror smooth? I buffed and buffed and buffed to smooth and get a mirror polished first ish with no luck.... very disappointed. Any suggestions?

I notice when I don't cure the gel top coat long enough before applying the powder it tends to look frosty. Also make sure to wipe off the loose powder once you're done buffing before applying the final layer of top coat. I actually have another mirror chrome powder video going up tomorrow where I give a bunch of tips for perfect application HTH!

I didn't try the multi-chromes over other colors, but I know the mirror powder looks different over other colors. 1 layer of mirror powder over pink kinda looks like rose gold! Lots of options with that one! I imagine the multi-chromed might not change color that much with a different base color because they are so opaque but it would be fun to try!

loved this vid. i giggled throughout it. if you haven't yet, try silver over any color polish. it doesn't have to be gel. you just need the no wipe top coat. not just the silver though. try blue chrome over blue polish or pink on pink. really cool looks. thanks for the giggles. :))

Caitlin Stolarczyk There are lots of videos testing the powder with normal nail polish, and the best i've seen so far is the one from "Nails and Towels". I also heard that you mustn't let the tpcoat dry too long (it mustn't be rock dry) or not long enough (if you touch it and you can see your fingerprint, wait 1 or 2 more minutes).

Acrobat is so beautiful! For me peel off base coats last for about 4-5 days before showing wear. This was the first time I used the UNT peel base. I'm still wearing the gel nails I did Monday and they are only showing tip wear but they are still on my nails! I haven't tried UNT with regular polish so I will have to test I out!
