@@jcp4350 I would! I am already building simulations for my system and I am happy with the results so far! I would like to tweak the algorithm though to make ranks a bit harder so that even high gold is considered somewhat good. Right now, most of my tests result in players being in gold 3 and gold 2. I am also considering the possibility of adding back emerald rank (because green is my favorite color lol.), but I don’t know if having that many ranks plus rank loss prevention will make ranking up too easy. I’m still testing.

I solo queued to champion two or three seasons ago, not saying I’m an amazing player by any means. I had good and bad matches but overall it was just a possible feat because I played enough. Still felt cool to do solo but now everyone thinks they killed a god when I die. I am a 2.0 champ and lost it the next match but yet smooth brained people treat it like a David versus Goliath story

Hello, “Boobysoft” dev here, we are currently working on a new tweak for this system. We have seen a huge curve in players ranks from 1.0 to 2.0. We are looking to tweak this system to better cater to the true ranks each player deserves. I personally do not agree with the hidden MMR and the RP system. I can’t speak on what systems are being implemented but it is currently being worked on to bring a better ranking system to our new player base and our OGs. Then I started playing with my friends that just got the game, and even though I’m carrying them, they get to gold easily while I’m still stuck in silver because I don’t gain as fast as them

I actually lost my first 5 games and I was stunned, like, how was I losing vs coppers? you basically explained hidden MMR to an extent. the game has separate entities that determine every players MMR and the whole issue is the mmr doesn't match your rank. you can be in bronze or silver but if you topfrag and do really well for 5 games your hidden MMR will think damn this dude is Plat so they start putting you against people with similar MMR rank hence why lower elo gets stuck playing against higher elo. if they took away MMR and let rank itself determine your skill level without any extra bs it would be half decent. apex legends has a dogshit mmr system

This is why, when I heard "Siege Cup" was coming to the game for us through matchmake, it kinda inspired me to get back into it. It gave me back that reason to be good at the game. Since playing comp was too complicated and it was hard to try and get a pro league team going, this is the next and fun next thing. Sure, it'd be every 2 weeks but at least its something fun and better than 2.0.

It’s so bad that I am programming my own ranked 3.0 system! I have a video on my profile of me lecturing about it for my computer science department. I think it’s better than ranked 1.0. Anyone can play together, boosting is impossible. Ranking up will be a challenge again. It will be skill based. Rank loss prevention will be in effect, but my solution makes it mostly placebo.

Skill based matchmaking fundamentally cannot work for a ranking system. The concept of a rank is that the rank indicates your skill, not that rank indicates how much you play ranked.

@@addmix that is actually why ranked 2.0 falls flat on its face. Ranks mean nothing in ranked 2.0 while in ranked 1.0, it did to some degree. Ranks now are worthless! I’ve seen new players that play better than some champs I see, and I see silvers with an insane amount of games playing better than most champs in my lobbies! Rank distribution should make a bell curve, and ranked 2.0 makes a negative slope instead.Ranks should be one’s ability to win games for siege. I have been creating a skill based matchmaking system, and I have been running a simulation the past hour with 12,000 game simulated at this point in time across a playerbase of 1,000 squads. It still needs a few more hours to process, but most “players” in my simulation have played 40 matches at this point in my simulation. Once I attach an Oracle database, I should be able to reduce the size of people waiting in the matchmaking queue which would result in more matches being simulated in a shorter amount of time. Then I can run the matchmaking process on different CPU threads for a significant boost in processing speed. Then I’d like to simulate, oh idk, a million players to test out my algorithm rather than the small simulations I am running right now

Been playing the game since release. I’ve never been in such messed up lobbies since 2.0. Every single match is 1 or 2 John Wicks, then 2 or so average players, and a carry. That’s it. Sometimes RARELY I’ll get in a game with 3 or 4 other competent players. That’s maybe once or twice a playing session. I may not have caught the explanation from Ubisoft on why they switched to 2.0 but I’m guessing they thought it would generate an overall more positive online experience but what they did instead was break the game. I hate when devs try to fix what isn’t broken. It makes no sense to me.

after coming back from a 2.5-3 year break I never had any experience with ranked 2.0 so my first season being this season I am in plat after about 40 games but even when I was in copper for the vast majority of the games there was exclusively emerald+ players with one or two actually low ranks per team sometimes no low ranks in whole lobby which makes the ranking system feel completely worthless since visual rank means absolutely nothing and it's entirely hidden rank that determines matchmaking especially since after not playing for a long time this should be what a new player experience should be which is even worse, the state of ranking being this way makes the state of ranked games be of very low quality in all ranks and games being exceptionally one sided for the most part which isn't the most enjoyable for either side. They should just go back to the older ranking system but add in the rewards to the ranks instead since this one is clearly not working.

I just started playing ranked and I was frequently playing against golds and silvers, and even a few emerald lobbies as a copper and bronze. It made it EXTREMELY difficult to rank up, HOWEVER, I never ranked down because whenever I lost a match, I’d lose ~2RP. (Not 20, just 2, like the match practically didn’t count)

I believe they should mix the 2 concepts. If you're gold and have a high mmr, you should queue with only silver gold or low plat players that have a high mmr. So it makes you play the exact rank you have and have a somewhat close to balanced experience in terms of gameplay skill

This was basically ranked 1.0 especially with the mmr restriction for example if your friend is silver and your gold 1 you can player together but if your friend was bronze his mmr was too low and you couldn’t play with them they made ranked so that you can play with everyone siege after 2.0 rank stopped being a competitive game for casual players

As a Rank 1.0 champ and have achieved the rank since ember rise. Champ used to be a symbol of skill and a status symbol, now it is pretty much a participation trophy for anyone. It’s not all bad with the new rewards but the system is not good it took the skill out of skill based gamemode. I’m just glad I’m able to play with my garbage Irls but it doesn’t feel good to play ranked with them because I’m going against plats and emeralds, I used to play PC and got champ roughly 16 times most in rank 1.0, mostly play console because of the cheating epidemic and I’ve been champ about 20 times across every account

I started playing again several weeks ago after taking about a 5-6 year hiatus. In Rank 1.0 I was by no means a good player. The highest I ever got was Gold 1 and almost hit Plat, while solo queuing. I remember coming back and seeing how different everything was. I didn’t know what rank 2.0 was and didn’t think much of it at first. However, about a week in I noticed the huge problem…I was playing with and against champs and higher level plays. Even without the banner the difference in skill was obvious. Now, I can’t even break past Bronze IV and I keep fluctuating between Copper V and Bronze IV. For some reason, I always get gold as the highest rank and mostly REAL copper players on my team now days while I play against real plats and higher (with some coppers on there team….). Not to mention when I do great for my team and we win, i till only get 16-20 ELO and lose 25-29 on a loss even when I’m top on my team. I might stop playing again honestly

I had an awful experience during heavy mettle. Played the first 18 games with amazing teammates, sometimes my friends would join but the team was always solid (went 16/18 wins). Then right after my KD went to 1.9, I was immediately nerfed HARD by the matchmaking. The opponents stayed near the same MMR. so playing against diamonds/champs but consistently my teammates were BRAND NEW to the game and didn't even have mics half the time. I had to spend ranked games, with 9 YEARS of experience in siege, coaching my teammates on how to use their gadgets and drones. Could not win a single match again despite dropping double digits kills every match. Overall season went 16/31. Got so tired of sweating my ass off to lose to awful teammates that I stopped playing ranked, haven't looked back. In the end, despite nearly dismantling champ ranked teams by myself... official rank was silver. What a joke

great video bro, not going to lie though i took a 2 year break from siege due to burnout, i came back this season and I've been versing diamond/champs when i was a plat player in ranked 1.0 and my team is riddled with copper 5's that haven't won a game, i think ranked 2.0 is good in the terms of rewards but the matchmaking is horrid, they need to go back to the drawing board with this one, if your in plat (witch is my current rank) you should verse plats, if your in copper you verse coppers simple but effective, sorry for the long comment had to vent a little.

Old ranking system still had boosting. It was frustrating to play Champs with diamond/champ smurfs on plat accounts giving you that ranked teamates that actually play like a plat and if you win you'll get 9 points. Lose you lose 20. Something had to change but not what we have now.

Simple: revert to Ranked 1.0, but instead of the 1000 MMR distance lock for parties, just automatically queue up to the highest players' ranks, that way if your gold friends want to come play, they can, they just have to face the rank of the highest ranking member in the lobby. Been saying that since we were all scrutinizing Ranked 1.0, but now we're all just begging for it to come back. Ranked 2.0 is a disaster, I have the lowest winrate and KD I've ever had in Siege, it's just not fun to get my head dribbled by cheaters, pros, and players I would've otherwise never shared a lobby with back under the old system provided they weren't smurfing. Now every match just feels like those smurfing matches from back in the day, there's always a player or 2 in the lobby with a 2.15 KD and 9 kills per game, and that just never was the case in the good ol days.

I started siege again after like 2 and a half year break this season, at like the end of gold to end of plat i felt the amount of cheaters increase and because of this i started playing less and less now at plat 2 i have played 3 matches in the last 2 weeks, played them all one day and i swear to god it was all HvH and whaddya know 3 days later i come back and see the "thanks for your report" 3 matches, 3 reports and 3 bans... 100% cheaters!!! i know this isn't true it's just a joke but these were all blatant asf imagine how many more non blatant ones there are? I don't know what this says about rank 2.0 but I recently started playing R6 consistently after barely playing since year 6. Back then I was grinding and the highest rank I ever got was like gold 2. I started playing again at the end of Y8S4 and got Plat V and my current rank is Emerald 2. This season my kd is 0.98. I don't feel like I've had to grind my way here, my winrate% is 56% and I've played 98 games this season.

5:16 I'm almost completely the opposite way with my rank. I only started playing ranked this season, played 4 or 5 games last season and landed copper 3. Now my hidden mmr is seemingly hard stuck in high copper/low bronze, so reguarless of my rank im going up against and being teamed up with people way worse than me. Because rp gain is also based off hidden mmr, I'm also only gaining 15-20 elo per win in bronze/silver while losing 25+ per loss.

We checked tracker thinking these must be the best copper players to ever do it and almost all of them were silver to plat and we were completely baffled. I made an alt with my friend a while ago on console to test ranked, got it to level 50, and started playing ranked this season. The first few games were fine, copper players mostly, you could tell how low the skill level was. We were getting +107 rp per win and losing 5. Since we didn’t lose a game in the first like 5-10 ish games, from that point on we were against mostly plat and emerald. We now lose over half of our games and are hard stuck silver. We have gone up against champions before, seen a lot of diamonds, and most of the players are plat. Either they show it or we use r6 tracker.

Funny thing is, I get put against plats/diamonds. Ranked 1.0 I never made it past plat 2 (mostly because I just played for the plat charm) but now I'm hitting diamond every season easily. I'm gunning for champ this season just because I know the ranking system is an absolute joke and anyone can hit champ with enough games. I think a perfect ranking system would be a mix of the two. Reintroduce placement matches, bring back the mmr system, but also keep ranked rewards and allow wider elo ranges to queue with and against each other. I remember in ranked 1.0, champs would be queueing for like 10 minutes just to find a game. Plus its also fun to play with and against pros and content creators sometimes lol. With the cheater situation being so bad, I think abandon penalties should be removed if the game was canceled. This would probably lead to people abusing the system to dodge content creator or pro stacks, but there are a ton of games where I'm playing back to back 3KD 97% winrate cheaters and it ruins the experience.

So my teammates and enemies are all between emerald and champ, but I have never even got out of silver. Which sucks because I want the recognition of being a decent player (with charms etc).

I play with like 3 friends of mine at different times, depending on who im playing with I'm either playing against champs with my one friend while we are in copper and silver respectively. I usually do pretty well since i've been playing fps games for a long while 1.5kdish in these like mid champ lobbies. However, I also play with a friend who is terrible, he has like a .4 kd and is funnily enough a higher rank than my actual friend who is also good at video games (he plays less, we are variety gamers). These lobbies are literally a slaughter for me and I rarely die. I try and base myself AT LEAST getting 5kd in his lobbies or I'm underperforming. This is so beyond twisted and we always clown on how bad this ranking system is. It seems to me like most people who like this system are just players who are genuinely terrible at video games who believe that they deserve more than they actually deserve. However, they forget that if everyone had a good rank, than having a good ranks means nothing. Tbh though I don't really care, if you are genuinely good at video games, you shouldn't need a rank to tell you that you are, you should just know.

Yup I hadn’t played R6 in several years, started playing again at the end of last season. New season starts, played ranked again maybe 25 games as of right now. Been in copper bronze and silver playing against fn diamonds and champs…I don’t play much ranked anymore. And standard matches, every game there’s a champ. I have been thinking it’s boosters. Not this hidden mmr stuff. A champ queuing into a match with a copper..either way this game is never going to be as good as it was at its peak way back during the seasons of para bellum through ember rise. Shame bc the game concept is the best I’ve ever come across.

This is just crazy because I did not know about hidden MMR and I am currently Gold 2 on console, but I always end up playing with emeralds, diamonds and even champs from time to time. I thought I was going crazy. It's hardly even fun at this point, because we always match up, like you said, against god sent R6 players or xim users. It just takes all the fun out of playing ranked. But I guess that I keep playing because from time to time the teams are balanced and the games are truly exciting and leads you to get better, not simply get washed by pros or, in the opposite scenario, to just destroy lower ranking players that somehow ended up being plat.

i’ve only ever hit diamond in 1.0 at my peak skill level. played enough in 2.0 and hit champ 3 times now, i’m a decent player and hold above a 1.1KD but i see nearly every rank under the sun until i get those sweaty 5 stack champs that actually deserve the rank we’re in lol. Ranked 3.0 needs to have a mix of both

Im currently stuck in silver 2 because last i played was Steel Wave. I was 1 win away from diamond took a break from the game, leading me to be paired with emerald and diamond players. Now I lose twice as much rp as I win.

The issue with the bell curve is somewhat alleviated when you look at the rank distribution for players with >100 matches played, ranked 2.0 just makes the rank distribution look messed up because a lot of people never reach their "true rank" and that skews it majorly. I think really the fundamental idea of ranked 2.0 is fine, but outside of the fundamental idea is where it breaks. For example, the ease of boosting that you addressed. edit: to clarify, the "fundamental idea" i am referring to is the hidden mmr vs actual rank

I think the original intention of ranked 2.0 was to have a system that would start everyone in copper, and force you to progress higher and higher. However, they used hidden mmr at first to help ease people in, so that if you were gold you wouldn’t be playing against champs. However, a lot of time has passed. Hidden MMR needs to go. I think a lot of people wouldn’t mind just starting at copper and playing against the people who hit whatever rank they’re stuck at.

It’s the same for me, ranked 1.0 and 2.0 champion and I play against golds which makes no sense any way you even try to think about it. We should be playing our mmr period, no reason for rp or hidden mmr, the only issue with the old system was getting 3 points for a rank win and losing 25 for a loss which they fixed in like ember rise with 25 for a win and 25 for a loss

Ranked is genuinely a joke now. I solo queued to emerald in deep freeze, and apparently that now means I can get diamonds or even champs in any match I play. Rank does not matter because I am getting players of my rank from two seasons ago in every match I play

The hard truth is, Ubisoft did exactly what they wanted to do with the Ranked system - they made people not to care about it. As far as I remember, it was their ultimate goal with Ranked 2.0. In their vision, it was supposed to decrease toxicity among players who were judging each other by their ranks or something like that (I know it sounds stupid, but its what they were doing). I do believe they haven't made a good ranked system out of it, but the goal is reached however. People did stop caring about it, because now your rank tells nothing of value. To be honest, just playing the game without caring about your stats is the best thing you can do for simply having fun is Siege, but yeah, I wish my Copper ass hasn't been queued with Emeralds all the f-ing time...

I got the game when it came out and had a 1.2-1.5 K/D (which believe me was not that impressive at the time the game came out). I had just recently gotten back into it in the last few weeks and feel like I'm getting absolutely smoked in Ranked even though I do pretty well in standard and/or quickplay. People are WAY better at this game now - so I'm curious to know if it still pairs me up with much better players due to my stats from 7 YEARS AGO.

The system sucks. What’s funny is everyone thinks they are playing against champs. What most are failing to realize is that if you are a champ level player in silver, you are playing champ level players in copper-champ. The same goes the other way. If you are a copper player in gold, you are playing other copper players. They should just make it clear what your MMR is and what type of players you will play against.

scenario 1) you are on teams of peak bronze players v peak emerald players that would mean the matchmaking system is the worse one ever created, legit terrible I've never heard of one this bad scenario 2) you on on teams of players who are currently bronze v a team of players who are current emerald current rank doesn't mean much. after playing 1 match you will always be copper, so all players will be copper at one point rank is completely meaningless, it was before and is even more so now. you skill as a player is determined by your own experience, don't let a shiny color do it for you.

I'm constantly playing against 3-5 man Diamond and Champ squads on PC (with some emeralds) and I've never been to higher than Plat 1, even before Ranked 2.0. 💀💀I usually duo with a friend who is in mid-Diamond and teammates will be anywhere between high Plat or low Diamond. When we queue, every game is an uphill battle, all the way from the bottom. Because he had previously hit diamond, he ranks up quicker than I do with more RP. We can have the same amount of wins and he'll be Diamond and I'll be in Gold, and we'll still be playing against Diamonds and Champs. 💀 I don't understand it at all lmao. I've seen so many Emeralds and Diamonds who look like they've only played for a few hundred hours.

MK1 (the newer game) came out in September of 2023 and it uses the same system, the only reason the updates were 6 weeks apart because they added like 6 characters in a year other thatn that it shortened to like 30 days when they stopped releasing new characters and basically recycled old themed seasons near the end of the game's life cycle. Fighting games in general have a better rank system, especially Tekken 8

I don’t play r6 but, Imo ranked system makes complete sense they just executed it a bit poorly. 9/10 what they’re doing is making everyone MMR super high then just the more and more they lose they get filtered out and their MMR will adjust this is very normal ranked system just started of pretty bad within a season or 2 you’ll probably be back to normal and all the low champion players will stay there once the start playing against real champs. So the 13000 champs is crazy they def should have another tier right under champ where the RP keeps going up but since they’re not top 1k they stay in that tier.

My friens group ranges from mid silver to low gold in yhe old MMR system. Our opponents are now haphazardly Coppers or Plat+. We run in duo to quad stack... And it's like the rank system balancing by goving the ither yeam 1 champ, 1 plat and then 3 legit coppers.

You know the ranked system is pretty cooked since I've been on a break from ranked and competitive gaming since Y7S1- Demon Veil, and just recently I wanted to try Siege ranked again and (I guess) my hidden MMR is somewere around Champ since I get champions and DAMN PRO PLAYERS AGAINST ME. I used to be ranked 1.0 Plat 3 (One RR point away from Plat 2 back in the day until I lost my progress) and now for some magical reason, I am Emerald V - like overall the ranked system should not work like this.
