Another great video young man, that trout looked delicious, and thanks for posting the Coleman stove, your right it's good to not have the firewood and ashes to contend with. I notice that many YTs like corporals corner etc, have Amazon shops where viewers can purchase the video products, you should give some thought to that as the affiliate royalties would help to pay for your hunting and fishing gear. Looking forward to when you can do some more game hunting videos, thanks.

When the snow clears later in the summer you should do a alpine lake catch and cook, some brookies would be dope. Way better then rainbows or browns

Sam, if I may make a suggestion in your setup when fishing for trout. Use the lightest leader you feel comfortable with. If the fish you will be catching are going to be pan size use 2lb to 4lb leader. If the fish are going to be bigger say 15in to 25in use a 6lb leader and so on. This will make a huge difference in the amount of fish you catch. Trust me, please try use a lighter leader. I can't even tell how many times this has made a difference for me. Keep up the great content, I really like the variety.
@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jeff! On this trip, I was using a 6lb leader with 10lb braid as my main line. I've been trying out all sorts of tactics and tackle, and it's been fun! Thanks for the advice! I'll keep that in mind next time I rig up.

Nice work! I went out three times last week and got skunked each time. The water level was so high, making it murky and weedy. That's what I'm blaming it on at least!

A couple of questions. Do you ever dip smelt? Have you ever went fishing for burbot? Was watching the Washington Fish and Game channel and they were talking about how burbot were native to the state. I lived there for over 30 years, til I moved to Michigan after military service and I never knew they were there. We fish for them here in Lake Superior at night and they are delicious, also called Poor Mans Lobster when you boil them. They make a great chowder too. Great video. I swear I could smell that fish from here. Thanks for going to the trouble of fishing for 2+ weeks just to show us your new grill.
@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I have never dipped for smelt before. As for burbot, I made them a primary target for me this year and I'm actually meeting up with Andrew again next week to target burbot. On our past walleye trip, we caught a burbot and it really is a poor man's lobster! Hopefully, we can get on some burbot and get a video on it!

try switching to power eggs instead of the dough bait. it stays on the hook better and they cant steal it as easy. plus it trout seem to bite the powereggs more willingly then the dough. love your channel man.
@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've been testing out different lures and baits over the past two weeks but I couldn't catch a fish so I had to switch back to PowerBait. I'm just ready for spring when trout are really active and start hammering spinners!
@bobbyiszt4 жыл бұрын
Maybe try spinners, jigs, and trout lures more often? You can cover more water and get a reaction bite
@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Yep, spinners were what I was using majority of the time at the other lakes. So in desperation, I came back to PowerBait lol.

I know you didn’t put the fish straight on the grill but you might wanna let all the oils from it burn off and throw some vegetable oil on it to clean it real nice with a half of an onion to get it ready to cook. You don’t want that nasty oil from the manufacturer on you food. 👍
