Rainbow Trout Heaven!!! Awesome North GA Fly Fishing

This is a beautiful March day with some beautiful Rainbow trout. There had been heavy rain over night that made me skeptical that the fish would not be feeding. Turns out I was wrong. I was also treated with beautiful wild flowers along the way.

Nice spot! I’ve fished a lot of north Georgia water, but not familiar with this. Private water? Those stripes almost as vibrant as frying pan river rainbows!

What do you guys mean when you say “are you up on your leader?” Great video also!

We fish longer leaders than most. Rod is 8 and 1/2 feet with 10 foot leader. When the leader goes inside the eyes on the rod you have an idea that the fish is 10 feet away. Thus you can start getting ready to net the fish. So, we are basically asking is all the fly line inside eyes of rod then you know he is close enough to bring to the net. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Ohhh, makes total sense. Yeah, I use leaders but maybe like 4 ft. And I don’t fish for trout. I’m actually taking a few of my boys for the first time this week. Hence me watching your great video. Thanks for the info buddy.

Your welcome I hope this helps. For trout I wouldn't go shorter then 7 ft on the leader because trout spoke if the fly lines floats over them
