Fly Fishing The Southern Appalachian Mountains!
We finally made it back to North Georgia this past winter!! This video contains 3 days of fishing and camping in the north Georgia mountains in search of giant public water rainbow trout. The fishing was tough but we persevered and got on some awesome fish. Some of the rainbow trout were the prettiest I've ever seen and made for some fun fishing.
I hop everyone enjoys this new North Georgia Trout Fishing Video!

Beautiful scenery and water, mountain air, native rainbows, with the possibility of catching the big one. Sounds like a wonderful fishing trip to me. I've never caught a native rainbow so watching y'all land them is the next best thing. Did I mention the beautiful water? Magical.

Great looking bows!!! Beautifully colored!!! I wish in the comments here I could post pics of some bows I’m catching here in Wv on some creeks that I don’t see anyone else fish. I think I saw two fisherman looking at the water one day but I’m not sure if they were fisherman. Lately the big bows have been biting, like 18-20 + bows and big numbers of catch. Because of the spawn I’m not targeting these bigger fish right now but I’m catching plenty of nice rainbows. I’m up to nine different creeks now like this and that’s not tribs of each other. It’s crazy !!!! Thanks for such a great video!!! Thanks

For me even a 10” wild bow in GA is a trophy. I love fishing for wild trout but in GA for bows it seems to be 4 - 6” is standard, I’ve only caught decent sized wild trout in NC. Would love to know what kind of water to look for, the only tip I got was spawning fish moving upstream which would suggest moving up from a lake. Unbelievable job, finding this stream and fishing it. This is way way way better than the typical GA wild trout water.

These fish are gorgeous... and also curiously, the rainbows caught still show/retain their parr markings even into adulthood? I wonder why that is? The only adult trout/salmonids having their parr markings into adulthood are cherry trout of Japan. I would investigate.., is it a genetic variation of rainbows in that stream, is it the water itself or is it Georgia peaches and Vidalia onions?

does that trib flow into a larger main stream? just curious because it absolutely must If there are big spawning bows in it up from a lake or larger trib doing their thing. this is exactly how I catch large wild browns and wild bows specifically here in western New york. lots of good trib fishing and lots of big WILD fish!

So these trout are coming up these creeks to spawn, would these size trout always be in these creeks or would they migrate lower to bigger rivers and then head higher up?

Not typically! In the US the fisheries are managed by the states. So each state has their own laws, so some may close fishing for a brief time and others don't.
