This was much more entertaining than expected. Between the serious matters are touches of humor and just everyday irritations that are super relatable. FL does a good job straddling the delicate and the strong aspects of her character. The ML plays the redemptive emperor well with just enough gentleness to keep his past mistakes on hand and always in the forefront of his actions. All the support characters play nicely into the plot. Totally recommend and worth a rewatch. 🎉

What a great, great, great drama. 10/10! Finally, we have emperor and empress that have brain (though the emperor was blinded by love in past life). This feels like a detective story and I love it so much. Not only the story is dynamic, the characters (and I mean, not just the main leads but lots of the supporting characters) have important roles and have brains too, not just fillers. Also, I saw a lot of familiar faces, those who usually are villains in other dramas, here are given roles as ML's & FL's important subordinates. I'm guessing that this production team has the budget to shot a good drama, and I'm happy they execute such a great script.

Kudos to the casting directors,screen play, the actors are amazing , FL,ML are outstanding beauty,skin wise and mostly acting wise, the make up is top notch, the dress designers are amazingly top notch ,hair accessories and each and every detail of the director made is very obvious in the each shot, phew ,I hope the producers,actors,directors efforts should be noticed and may God give them lot of genuinely good paying jobs ,the team itself is superb.its very rare I liked the whole video but this video,screenplay,actors ,dresses ,hairdo and it's accessories are eye catching and captivating .

after watching, it became one of my fave!! a rare chinese drama where there is no physical or emotional abuse between the leads! and after rebirth, no misunderstanding so great for them to repeat past mistakes. love their teamwork and the FL & her maid’s and the king’s, his minister (who is the childhood friend of the FL) & his eunuch’s!! overall an excellent drama!! highly recommend!!

There are some of these shows that aren't worth spending 3 hours but this had enough content to keep me going, yet not so much that I was overwhelmed trying to keep up. The "queen mother" so to speak is a favourite actress of mine. The Emperor, ML, seems new to me but maybe I am just not recognizing him. His acting seemed a little bland, but that may have been how his character was written, I can't tell. The investigator (the FL's childhood friend) is a favourite of mine, too, and I want to see a lot more of him in the future! He was in one where he could hear the FL's thoughts, and it was great! I really liked the actress who played the Queen Mother's lady in waiting (sorry, I can only seem to think of currentWestern names for these lol). SPOILER SPOILER I have to admit that I was kind of wishing there would be a chance to be with her childhood friend, just so she could be out of the palace and more free. But she has a power and wisdom that you can see is strong enough (if maybe not completely willing enough) to be a queen.
