Very underrated! I love the cool rythms and the fact that it's in g# minor, which is a pretty unusual key.

Nice job. Very unusual subject, with the 32nd-double-dotted-eighth rhythms. IAt first I wondered what kind of countersubject would come with it, but sure enough, you had a good one. And your choice of key is interesting--but you stuck with it, and battled it out with all the double-sharps. Good for you!

I heard a great number of fugues, but yours are different from others (I mean other contemporary music composers). For me, the works of others are often emasculated: made according to all the canons, but dead, while your works have a soul, which is very rare. (In my opinion, there is an unevenness in bars 28-29 - you are just a little bit short of a coherent statement of thought, like that of Bach, for example). P. S. 1. I believe that you will succeed. 2. I believe the purpose of music is to make people happy. Rest assured: you have made one person happy!
@averynhiell8 ай бұрын
Wow, thank you so much! (= Your comment made me very happy. And I’m so glad my music makes you happy. ^^ Yes, I see what you mean with the transition between bar 28 and 29. My intention was to have a gradual change from doubly dotted 8th notes to dotted 8th notes to normal 8th notes. It was very tricky and I think it could be improved. ^^

Great work! Suggestion for readability: grace notes would be a much more elegant way to notate this. If this exact rhythm is decide, you can include a short note explaining how grace notes should be played for the piece!

I do enjoy this demented subject! Not very nice, but very good. You have skill at melody! My ear didn’t know where to listen, which shows you’ve written a compelling fugue. Do you have any interest in composing dance music like in baroque suites? Fugues aren’t the only type of baroque music 🥹
@averynhiell Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Interesting view to find the melody good, but not nice. I can see that, though. ^^ I somehow have very little interest in learning other things apart from fugues at the moment. There are a few inventions on my channel and some older pieces, which are not really baroque at all. But I have been absolutely fascinated by fugues for years and simply can’t stop writing them. xD
