Noteworthy features of this fugue:
→ doubly dotted eighth notes
→ there is an entry where both subject and countersubject are scattered about the different octaves at 1:56
→ the tail of the subject is written in counterpoint not only with the subject but also with the countersubject, which I take advantage of in the last entry in the stretti at 2:43
This fugue has four parts and is written for two players.
Inspiration: I have taken some inspiration from Gottlieb Muffat’s fugue in g-minor: • Gottlieb Muffat (1690-...

Nice job. Very unusual subject, with the 32nd-double-dotted-eighth rhythms. IAt first I wondered what kind of countersubject would come with it, but sure enough, you had a good one. And your choice of key is interesting--but you stuck with it, and battled it out with all the double-sharps. Good for you!

Very underrated! I love the cool rythms and the fact that it's in g# minor, which is a pretty unusual key.

I want you to know how much love and respect I have for your creativity and innovation in a style often plagued by people stunting themselves and others in an effort to be discount Bach's. We are not Bach, not one can be Bach, but you are Avery and Avery if offering everything that they are and will become to the style we all love. Sorry that was a bit dramatic haha!

Another creative fugue. Sounds somewhat Mozartean with all the ornamentation, dotted rhythms, chromaticism and the tritones.

finally some very entertaining contemporary fugues with a lot of personality. 99% of fugues here are so boring and manieristic. good work let your inspiration fly and do not let studies prevail on your fresh istinct.

Great work! Suggestion for readability: grace notes would be a much more elegant way to notate this. If this exact rhythm is decide, you can include a short note explaining how grace notes should be played for the piece!

I heard a great number of fugues, but yours are different from others (I mean other contemporary music composers). For me, the works of others are often emasculated: made according to all the canons, but dead, while your works have a soul, which is very rare. (In my opinion, there is an unevenness in bars 28-29 - you are just a little bit short of a coherent statement of thought, like that of Bach, for example). P. S. 1. I believe that you will succeed. 2. I believe the purpose of music is to make people happy. Rest assured: you have made one person happy!

Wow, thank you so much! (= Your comment made me very happy. And I’m so glad my music makes you happy. ^^ Yes, I see what you mean with the transition between bar 28 and 29. My intention was to have a gradual change from doubly dotted 8th notes to dotted 8th notes to normal 8th notes. It was very tricky and I think it could be improved. ^^

I do enjoy this demented subject! Not very nice, but very good. You have skill at melody! My ear didn’t know where to listen, which shows you’ve written a compelling fugue. Do you have any interest in composing dance music like in baroque suites? Fugues aren’t the only type of baroque music 🥹
@averynhiell
@averynhiell 9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Interesting view to find the melody good, but not nice. I can see that, though. ^^ I somehow have very little interest in learning other things apart from fugues at the moment. There are a few inventions on my channel and some older pieces, which are not really baroque at all. But I have been absolutely fascinated by fugues for years and simply can’t stop writing them. xD
