Couple of interesting facts --- 1) The car heater was invented in 1893 by Margaret Wilcox, a mechanical engineer. Her system simply directed air over the engine and this heated air is channelled into the cabin, providing warmth to its occupants. 2) In 1903 Mary Anderson invented the windscreen wiper. It wasn’t an instant hit with car companies, who thought it would distract drivers. She never profited from her invention, even when wipers became a standard on cars.

That car is SO clean! If I was doing that, it would be dropping all manner of crap, including rusty flakes into my eyes every time I touched it. And the O2 sensors would never walk out like that, either. They’d fight me for every 12th of a turn, the whole way out!

The customer was told it increases performance most likely! When I was a certified technician years ago I swapped perfectly good parts all the time cause the usually young person claimed that the new part would make it faster! And if they believed it enough they even felt the increase in performance that was not measurable lol! Think muffler or hot coil or coil packs! Coil packs were a big snake oil item! Not all but most of the time the replacement part did nothing noticeable!

When I was a C-5 crew chief, a flight engineer said he had some residential (not to be confused with residual) hydraulic fluid leaking from one of the thrust reversers. I told him he should be thankful it was leaking otherwise that hydraulic system would have been completely empty… He was not amused.

I just cut the wire off them rusty O2 sensors and use a large spark plug socket to remove them so you have all 6 sides covered, then use the slit socket for installation. I do this because I have ruined those slit sockets by using them for "tough'" and rusty removals here in MN rusty town. Love your vids, it's really nice to see a family work team type wife so you're really blessed with a great wife and family. Kudos bro.

Scotchbrite discs are officially Roloc discs and come in different grits signified by color. Blue is a better choice than red as it is less abrasive especially for cleaning softer material from flanges and mating surfaces. In addition the 3m Bristle discs have bristles or fingers that can get into recesses to clean and remove material. Once again these are coded by color for abrasiveness.

I really enjoy your commentary as you make repairs!! and with all the "stuff" that has to be removed just to do what I would say could be a simple replacement of a part, is crazy nowdays!! I just looked up how to change the battery in my 2019 Ford Escape, I would bet that if the engineer that put it where it is and had to change it, they would have moved it!! Oh, question, how much of the "brake clean" do you really go thru (a month)? Stay safe and warm!!

Excellent video as always. The new camera seemed much better in this video, the white balance is still a touch dodgy with sudden changes in brightness, it occasionally makes your skin look luminous. But for the most part it was decent and I'd say when it's working well the quality is noticeably better than the gopro

I have an 02 3.8 Bird so interesting video. Having dealt with GM products my whole life and now my wife has a 2015 sienna. The quality and attention to detail between Toyota and an GM is astounding. 156K and no seeps, drips or grime. Underneath looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. The O2 sensor cables are not attached with the Christmas tree fasteners but rather, metal standoffs. Its things like this that make me understand why everyone loves Toyotas.

I know u are not up north so the blaster is overkill but think of all the home stuff u can do. Just some ideas. U would save some cash on all the brake cleaners u go through. Anyways have a wonderful Christmas .

Yup them damn plugs rust out beyond removability up here. I had a garbage bag in the road wrap around my shaft which took out the seal. As a driveway "hack", I drilled a hole just big enough to fit the nozzle that the gear oil came in & capped it with a self tapping screw wrapped with teflon tape. Of course I couldn't be sure to not get any shavings in there but, I think magnetizing the bit 1st might have helped. Plus the case seemed to be a rather soft metal. Anyway, 5+ years & zero issues. & it was free, fast & easy.

I question leaving the tube in that jug of gear lube. With the tube in that jug, it's possible for contamants to get into the gear lube. Seems it'd be better to remove the tube and put the cap back on that jug. Using that machines looks to be much easier and quicker refilling that differential.

I've always heard that you should not spin washed bearings with compressed air to dry them because spinning dry creates micro scratches and micro welds as the unlubricated parts slide past each other with no oil film. Seems like cleaning every speck of oil off the gears and bearings would cause them more harm during the first couple revolutions when they rotate loaded with no oil than than the harm that would result from leaving a couple ounces of old oil coating everything.
