Well it "isn't that kind of podcast"... by which he means a good one. lol Bill has to clue in that people in general don't watch every single episode of any podcast. They watch for the guests first... that they are talking to Bill is secondary really. I mean I like Bill. 10% of the time though I wonder how people aren't walking out on him. We get it Bill your single... you totally don't regret never having children... you know more about 18 year olds these days then the people raising them. Oh and any form of "spiritual" thinking annoys you. Its too bad cause Bill is witty, hilarious, and fun... he just often takes the disrespect just a little too far, you would have thought he got enough feedback as younger man to know better. Guess not.

I like Bill, but sometimes he conflates his truth-sayer shtick with his ego and just comes off as an arrogant SOB. Funny thing is, I do think he knows when to show restraint. He can be tolerant to people with religious affiliations, but he REALLY doesn't seem to respect people who pursue therapy. He made it pretty clear that he thinks only people with significant trauma need it. Radical empathy is understanding that people have different constitutions, anxiety thresholds and need different tools to cope. Also, people don't pursue it because of their egos, but often so that they can be better and balanced versions of themselves for other people in their life. Many of us have lived with miserable parents and wished mental health wasn't as stigmatized back then, but the "therapy is for snowflakes" narrative isn't helping lol

Rainn's views on Succession are entirely accurate. Succession and Ozark both show a change in our culture where happy endings and flawed people who end up better are no longer things we can believe. They are like believing in Santa Claus at this point. Ozark also looked down on Christianity or conservatism, and all of the intelligent people were inherently progressives. But in both shows your "heroes" aren't heroes, and couldn't have happy endings.

There was a time when Hollywood went for too many Happy endings especially on TV, but I feel like The Sopranos started an annoying trend when everyone has to become a bigger piece of s@@@ and everything needs to be dark or gritty. That works for some shows but I would like to see more of a balance and less anti-heroes.

@@brianmeen2158 We are all flawed people with our negative aspects, but there definitely are good and bad people. We typically even have specific labels for their behavior such as sociopaths or even psychopaths, but it's not limited to those. People with certain addictions can also be bad people. Not every heroin addict robs their family blind, but most do. Not every murderer is motivated by personal gain. One of my best friends is a murderer, but he's a good guy. Today he's a nurse.
