The straining cap will also prevent things from falling in, and mosquitoes from using the standing water 👍

Putting the empty totes on a higher elevation, so long as it's safe and stable-- would let gravity take the place of the electric pump to push water out

The reason it's not legal in some places to collect rainwater is because slime bag water utility companies want to force you to use their water.
