Tim, I have a buddy of mine in town that takes local musicians guitar strings and even my harps, and drop them in a tray of liquid nitrogen. This procedure changes the molecules in the steel, brass and makes them stronger so they don't break as often. Which would make your strings go from 2 months to 4 or 6 months before breaking.
