Rainy Not-So-Perfect Day at CocoCay! How does the Island Operate in Inclement Weather?

Welcome to Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas! We are on an 8 night sailing leaving from Bayonne New Jersey and visiting Port Canaveral Florida, Nassau Bahamas, and Perfect Day at CocoCay! This is Symphony’s first ever sailing out of Cape Liberty, which makes it the largest ship to ever sail from this port!
Today we are at Royal Caribbean’s private Island, Perfect Day at Coco Cay! Only it’s not so perfect today… The majority of the day was very rainy with thunderstorms. Once the weather cleared up a bit, we decided to go out on the island to discuss what restrictions are in place when the weather isn’t ideal!

We have had our stop at CoCoCay cancelled 3 separate cruises due to weather. Due to rough seas the ship couldn’t dock. All 3 times on the Symphony. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@tomsimpson5317 I'm only one working . Wife been home wife help with sister family when got laid off 7yrs ago I was work weird construction long hrs. Know work for a mill . Wife try get back to work. Know the feeling. Just file bankruptcy this summer bc all stuff with medical and covid 2021 -2022 ran through a mess how long I was laid off.

We were on the August 17th ICON cruise and Coco Cay was a disaster for us. We were so looking forward to Coco Cay because we had our 8 year old grandson with us. He swam in the ocean for 30 minutes! It was a downpour, thunder and lightning. I was not pleased with Royal. It was a disaster and all the guests were left to fend for themselves to get back to the ship. Transportation was spotty and guests were not at their best. Many of us tried to seek shelter at the food areas. Not good when roofs are holey. They have to come up with a better plan!

Sorry you had a bad time and not so perfect day. Typically storms are fast so maybe having a place to wait out the downpour would be good. I saw people huddle under umbrellas or in the food areas. One more reason to go back again!
