Oh, yes, both the backplates looked lovely. I had such a fomo, as I could order only one version, as initially I wanted to go with the glass weight, but then one of my friends told me about the lack of scratch resistance, so I decided to change my mind. So good, who knows when it will actually be in stock again! The only other thing I don't like is sacrificing a key for the rain cloud logo. I'm about to finally buy the F75. Saves about $40 over this at a minimum anyways. :)
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 4 ай бұрын
That's totally understandable! At the end of the day I also have my favorite layout. Price is always a tricky topic, it always depends on what features one wants to have (e.g. for me, $40 is not a huge extra, considering the ease of case opening, and the alu over the plastic - but luckily the F75 has great stock sounds, and plastic is better for certain sound profiles. :) So the decision is totally up to certain factors!)

@@802Garage I want to correct myself, the Aula F75 can also be modded without any concerns, so it's a totally valid choice! Great videos! Would you say that the Rainy is indeed of better quality than the competition at this price range like a lot of people claim? It's hard to tell if it's all hype, and whether the reviews have been paid for. Which keyboards around this price range would you say are of the best quality? I've seen quite a few complaints about the screws in the Leobog Hi8 already losing shape where they come into contact with the screwdriver after removing them only once, making it unlikely you can open it often. I don't know how true this is, but these low price points have me a bit concerned.
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 4 ай бұрын
Thank you! ^^ It's definitely a great example of how far the budget keyboards can (and have) become in the recent months. The biggest selling point compared to others in this range (for me) is the design (especially the backplate), and the option of the stock FR4 plate (instead of PC plate from others). Otherwise, it's completely on par with the pre-built Leobog Hi75 (which is only-wired, but comes well below $99 pre-built as well), and I had no issues with the Leobog Hi8 so far (even though I have 3 units of it). (And I'd like to mention that I've come across poor design and production quality in keyboards from the $2-300 price range, which made them tremendously worse than the Rainy75 or Leobog Hi75 or Hi8. So I guess it's up to luck in the end :'))
@Ciferz
@Ciferz 4 ай бұрын
@@thoccnology Thanks a lot! So I take it the screws getting worn out (I don't know how to better describe it, but what I mean is that the X turns into an O) and becoming impossible to loosen is not a problem with the Leobog Hi8 and Hi75 in general? Probably just a handful of people not handling a screwdriver properly, but some screw quality is still a thing and some wear out much more easily, so I'm a bit wary.
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 3 ай бұрын
@@Ciferz Haha, I totally understand your description, I have massacred quite a few screws myself too :') I can imagine that it was a different batch with just poor quality screws. I have my Hi8s from two different sellers, weeks apart, and none of them have issues. I remember only one of the screws getting so damn tightened on the green unit, that it was a PIA to open, but as I recall I changed the srewdriver bit to a 'sharper' one and it was OK then.

I got mine just today and checked the polling rate, which is 500 HZ according to "Keyboard Inspector" software (tryed both normal and fast latency modes). When checking other keyboards that I have, it shows 1000 HZ (which is correct, cuz it is stated in their specs). Very interesting that it doesnt have "standart gaming 1k HZ", but still manages to have impressive response time ;) Also can I ask, how do u measure latency? Thank you for the review! Wonderful content :)

just found out that board supports via, so changing polling rate to 1000 hz isnt a problem in theory ;)
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 4 ай бұрын
Honestly, polling rate has little to do with the latency at the end of the day. (Unless we are speaking about very low polling rates. :)) In theory, a 500Hz polling rate can result in a cca.2ms latency. So it's not the polling rate that causes a bottleneck in keyboards. :) I perform the latency tests similarly to Rtings, using a high refresh-rate monitor and a slo-mo camera. A detailed video about it is always postponed but definitely planned. :)

Hi! ^^ I wouldn't say that the Leobog Hi8 is essentially better - they both have their strength. Both are pretty good for gaming (although the Rainy75 is a tiny bit better), both support 3-mode connection, and both are made of aluminium. The Rainy75 comes pre-built quipped with switches and keycaps), so if you can find that around $100-130, that might be a better deal. If you like the stock sounds. The Hi75 and Hi8 is almost identical in sound profile. Here I made a comparison, including the Hi75 and Rainy75 too :) The Hi8 will sound the same as the Hi75s (deep, foamy, +creamy, thocky), while the Rainy75 is more like creamy+clacky. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zpy9ZJmVhKeYeM0

@@thoccnology i just found this keeb few days ago, so i recently just ordered. I've always wanted a keeb that has creamy/marble sound. but I dunno how to customize so this one is really good for me. if i want to replace the keycaps. Can i use any kind? or do i have to find cherry profile keycaps as well?
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 2 ай бұрын
@@nomful Yes, almost any kind of custom keycaps work! Most of you can find online are made for these kinds of keyboards (they call them MX-compatible, or something similar). :) Did you order the FR4 plate version, or the Lite/Standard version with the PC plate?

I want to get Rainy75 but looks like next batch is June. But I do see it being sold on Taobao. Do you have any experience buying from Taobao?

@@jamesgong3648 Unfortunately no, Taobao doesn't offer shipping to Europe and finding a good forward agent is a bit difficult. :/

I believe you can switch mode with a shortcut, no?
@thoccnology
@thoccnology 5 ай бұрын
I prefer turning off my keyboard (if not using overnight or to prevent accidental keypresses - e.g. while I work on my desk with big parts) For that, using the shortcut is not enough, unfortunately.

Fair 😁 I think if I switch to other modes than the one I'm using, I can prevent the accidental keypresses. Also, turning off the RGB led at night to sleep. I am waiting to receive the anodized Navy actually. This is my first keyboard so I'm not sure what other problems can occur. I like your video, tho. Simple and straight forward

@@kietbuituan2991 Yes, but what if both BT and 2.4G modes are in use? :D And even if it doesn't register the keypress, the RGB lights up, BRRR. :D I know, I'm quite picky about these things, but I guess it can't be helped, I work as a software tester in my day job hehe Oh, is there an anodized Navy version available? :0 I know about only Ano Black and Ano Silver.

Yeah, It would be more convenient if they have the switch on the side. But the🌟 A E S T H E T I C🌟 is cleaner. But with that price tho, I guess I can work around with it (turn off LED when go to sleep) I live in Vietnam and there's a distributor. It cost 2,550,000 (~104 USD). I dont know why but I think it's cheaper than other sites.
