I dropped my Kensington Orbit Fusion Wireless a few too many times in the floor, and needed a replacement. So i decided to try the MX Ergo - which is a thumbball. 2 days after getting it, im already AT LEAST almost as good at Unreal Tournament 2004 as i used to be with the Kensington (which i had used for maybe 1.5 years). The main downside with the MX Ergo is that the ball doesnt roll very smoothly, but chain lube on the bearing helped a lot 👍🏻

Awesome stuff. I have the Deft Pro right now (modded and lubed so it spins really nicely), but was contemplating the Gameball as a future upgrade; the Deft Pro was on sale, and the Gameball was going to be over $300 CAD after shipping and so on, so I went with what I could afford. Looks like the Gameball scores justify the price, though. Definitely something for me to save up for! Also, you're amazingly accurate; great shots!

@@GRiMS2K Indeed I did! I don’t play competitive shooters, but I do play Left 4 Dead 2 with my friends quite a bit and I regularly score an accuracy of 40% or higher with the GameBall, up about 17% from my top score with a mouse. In other games I’m playing now, like Starfield, nailing headshots on NPCs is a breeze. The GameBall tracks really, really well.

Are you planning on expanding your trackball collection, even if not for gaming use? Of all reviews and overviews I've seen of various balls, I have yet to see a comprehensive list of ball sizes in various devices. I know there's the 'standard' size that Logi and other companies use, and I know there's a 'standard small' that stems from this, both of which you can actually find replacement balls for. I also know some companies have a slightly off-'standard' proprietary size. But what I can never find is the size of the balls in the smaller handheld and travel peripherals that use mini trackballs, or what size various companies use, for example I don't think I've ever seen the stated size for Elecom devices, and they have at least three that they're using across their product lineup. Lenovo also has an old handheld peripheral that was a small keyboard and a small trackball, the N5901, which uses a sub-mini trackball, but again I cannot find any documentation on what size it used. Another thing I've never really seen before is what's actually suitable for replacement balls. I've seen the replicated glitter/pattern balls, I've seen shiny massive ball bearings used, and sometimes translucent balls, but what about other balls? I know you can buy various sphere sizes of materials like polypropylene, nylon, delrin, etc., what about various rubberized balls, etc.? There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of how well various materials track. I'm wanting to get into some atypical peripheral designs that are based around trackballs. The issue I'm running into is that what I'm wanting to do requires a certain size of ball to remain ergonomic. Finding non-standard size replacements is difficult, so it's either finding a product I can take a ball from or finding an ball of an atypical material. But the problem is that there's just no good documentation on either side of this, and any project will become a money pit diving down this rabbit hole myself.

The Gameball definitely looks the most attractive. Do you have any issues with the buttons? I've heard the ball is great, but the buttons are rather awkward. Might make a switch to trackball or vertical at some point to preserve my wrists long term.

The buttons definitely take a bit to get used too. That said the same could be said for a lot of the top down trackballs.

@kanitsrvng6 ай бұрын
All depends on the application, MX Ergo can game, but if you play on increasing settings and so on, you're probably gonna have to branch out elsewhere. A suggestion a lot recommend, lube. Lube helps a lot of the Logitech devices, especially in terms of absolute smoothness.

friend, how are you, greetings, I have been using the two Logitec and Razer brands for years but neither fits my hand in terms of ergonomics, my hand is a medium size 17cm long x 9cm wide and most mouse, here in my country they are for claw grip, and I have a palm grip, I am getting used to a relaxed claw but I would like to opt for a trackball, do you suggest that I use it 100% for shooter and mmorpg and rendering tasks, editing and video , The only brand that is in my country is this Logitech trackball mx ergo

Hey man, I love the content. Can you do a video on your acceleration curves and settings?
@Raire2 жыл бұрын
I actually don't use any acceleration curves. As for settings generally speaking I have it set up where a flick will perform a 180. I don't really look at numbers and it's based on feeling to be honest.
@MrRainoir2 жыл бұрын
I was using acceleration for a while, I play on thumb-trackball, turning it off seems counter intuitive because you don’t have as much space as a normal mouse to make longer movements but it actually helps. I hit 76k today. With acceleration I never broke 60k.

Better construction in general. Due to the fact the Ploopy is 3d printed, it leads to a slightly off feeling when using it.

you should try a thumb trackball 1000% more effective
@thesmokecriminal53957 ай бұрын
How come
@GRiMS2K7 ай бұрын
why is thumb more effective?
@ShipCore7 ай бұрын
The amount of movement required for a *THUMB* trackball is much less than all these others. It's faster, more accurate, and you have way more precision. The critical advantage is that it can be used in tight spaces with a laptop with no mousepad needed at all. Your hand is essentially stationary the entire time. Adjust the sensitivity so your thumb never leaves the ball yet you can move the cursor completely across the screen in one movement. You can switch on the fly the pressure and angle of your thumb to either the tip for higher precision or the ball for faster movement and do so with no delay at all. All of these have a learning curve, where most people expect they get the new mouse then it is *not* better right away and then trash talk them. That's because its a *new* skill thing and it takes time, a variable amount of time per person, to build the motor memory needed. Most people won't put in that effort, they are looking for instant advantage. @@GRiMS2K
