Always make sure the wood pallets have a HT stamp vs a MB stamp. The HT stands for heat treated whereas the MB stands for Methyl Bromide which is a toxic pesticide used to treat beetles that might reside in the wood pallets. We researched this when we made some chicken coops from pallets 10 yrs ago. Our HT pallet coops have stood up to 10 yrs of FL humidity and storms, much better than the regular plywood ones we built lol. I believe the DB (debarked) & KD (kiln Dried)marked pallets are also ok to use.
