Pandas can only raise ONE CHILD AT A TIME! So if they have twins in the wild, it’s not like they can give them up for panda adoption. They have to abandon them. It’s not like they are doing this as a heartless act. They don’t have enough energy, nutrients and resources to care for two kids. So naturally one gets left behind. Although it is wrong, the mom isn’t cruel to get rid of her child. It’s justified, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still sad for the children. They’re basically getting disowned and abandoned

@Maximus Shinejil The problem is not really the starving. Lack of living space is quit a problem of any wild living animal. Pandas are endangered, because they are quite lazy at reproduction. most of the pandas are living in protected reservation, but sill one third are living in the wild.

Pandas that are born in captivity are not really fit for living in the wild. Male pandas have to get a "sex ed" by, well, watching their mothers, cause they only get into the mood when the male performs certain practices ( I think it included biting and/or grabbing the female, can't remember it exactly). Since captivated pandas usually don't have sex, the males don't learn what they're supposed to do and that's where the myth about them being sex lazy comes from.
