Great Job Paul. I love raising fish, I haven't tackled angels. I mainly breed plecos but once I get enough space I may take the bite hahaha
@PaulsPlantedAquariums7 жыл бұрын
Next Gen Aquarium RODI's are a little pricey but there are a lot of freshwater hobbiest out there using them, you never want to use just straight RO water, the fish need some minerals in there water to correctly perform Osmos. So basically you start with hard water, run it though the filter then add back in what is needed for the types of fish you are keeping, in your case Apistos love very soft water so you won't have to add much..

Great video Paul! Thank you. Question: Can you show us how you do the water changes on the babies in the bottle? Thank you again!!!
@PaulsPlantedAquariums7 жыл бұрын
Laura Wrenn I can tell you. since the gallon jar is in a ten gallon tank filled with conditioned heated water it draws it's water in from the 10g down through the bottle through the bottom foam piece up through the lift tube and back out to the 10g.. So all you do is change out the water in the 10g to refresh the internal water..

Really cool video. I just started into this a few months ago - right now I am just trying to keep my fish alive. Unfortunately my tap water is extremely hard and high Ph. I am trying Apistogramma Borellii in a 44gallon tank - but I know I won't be able to breed them in my water conditions... One day I would like to give it a go though. For now I'm still just trying to learn the simple stuff. Thanks for sharing!
@PaulsPlantedAquariums7 жыл бұрын
What you need is a RODI unit (Reverse Osmosis Deionizer) it is a special filter that strips all the chemicals and solids out of the water leaving you pure H2o you then add just a little of your tap water to it and you can keep and breed the Apistogramms..
@JohnSheehan727 жыл бұрын
I was looking at those - I know they are used a lot in saltwater tanks but I got mixed information on using them for freshwater tanks. I wasn't sure how they would be in a planted tank - but I know it would take care of the hardness of my water.

Hi! Nice video but the bubbles are way too near the eggs and moving the ‘clutch’ too much. There are easier ways to hatch them, putting the leaf containing the clutch in Tupperware box with a small sponge filter and some Indian almond leaf being the easiest method so far. Anyways, lovely videos with great clarity. And last but not least, the parent pair is beautiful and the young ones even better, especially the colour! Amazing isn’t it, when you see them spawning, the wigglers, the juvies, the whole experience! Saludos from Spain!

My water TDS is 270 . Earlier my angel laid eggs and the hatching rate was very less . Now if I remove the eggs from my parental tank to RO water jar after the parents spawn / fertile the eggs . Will the eggs hatch?

Anyone see a problem with a large snail (not the ones that get out of tank) cleaning the bottom of an angelfry tank? My tank is 20 gallons, and on the floor, so my siphon doesn't have much juice, and doesn't get the debris out very well - so I am looking for some extra help - and I have these 2 snails in the community tank...so I borrowed one. I have no eggs, I have fry that are all free swimming, and they have been so, for about 1 - 1.5 weeks....some are 2xs as large as the others, so I think they may have hatched at different rates, or something. Any helpful comments appreciated.

My angelfish spawned on the glass of my community tank, unbeknownst to me! I just realized what I was seeing were eggs! They are in a 60 gallon tank with lots of other fish who will probably eat them alive!! Is there any way to get the eggs off the wall and into another tank by themselves so I can save them? How would I go about accomplishing that?

i have these fish and when they lay eggs they eat them so i put the eggs in a jar with a heater would that be okay ?
@PaulsPlantedAquariums7 жыл бұрын
You need to have an airstone to keep the water heavily aerated but not so much that it throughs the eggs/fry around and you will need to do at least a 30% water change in the jar every day. Once the are free swimming you need to move them into a tank of their own (5g/19L or better yet 10g/38L) with a sponge filter and a heater and still do water changes at least every other day. As to feeding check out my videos on raising Baby Brine Shrimp. Best of Luck!

Do you use the same tank water that the eggs were laid in ? ! am struggling to get to day 3 wriggler stage ! fungus is just so bad - tried to do it artificially as well as leave with parents ! nothing is working - used meth blue and fungus still is ramport ! any ideas ?
@PaulsPlantedAquariums5 жыл бұрын
My first thoughts; are the eggs actually getting fertilized, un-fertilized eggs will fungus over within a day. So if you haven't actually seen wigglers you may not have a viable couple?
@beverleyhelmbold5 жыл бұрын

Question., why do breeding parents eat their eggs?
@PaulsPlantedAquariums5 жыл бұрын
The further out of the wild Angelfish are breed and inbreed (as in the case of the Angelfish in the video (9th or 10th generation captives)) they tend to lose their parental instincts. I have a pair of Philippine blue Angelfish that are third generation, they just recently spawned and defended their eggs and young savagely, unfortunately, the other tank mates got to them little by little until all were gone, but on the happy side I did take out some of the eggs and I'm currently hand raising approximately 40 happy and healthy young P. B. angelfish. Check my channel for recent video on this, and thanks for tuning in...
