Weird story about synchronicity. I don’t eat keto anymore so I haven’t tuned in for a few years and KZbin has not shown me any of your posts either. Yesterday I had a random thought about you guys and wondered if you were still vlogging. I didn’t think much of it but today KZbin thought it would show me this video…. Is the algorithm really that good or is that universal synchronicity? I don’t know. 🤷🏻♀️ Glad to see you guys are doing wonderfully and your boys are so big and healthy !!! ❤

Ditto. I haven’t seen them in my feed for past 2 years or so and just today I was thinking about them and couldn’t remember their channel name. I remembered their names and found the channel. I used to follow them back in 2018-2022. I am glad they are enjoying family life. Doesn’t matter keto or not. 🎉

Roosters are mean af. The hell I'd want to play with one
@trina72746 ай бұрын
@@t-rozbenouameur5304 not all roosters are mean. We have 3 roo’s right now, all are wonderful!! I’ve never not one time had a problem with them. I hatched all 3 and handled them daily from hatch. I also let them “imprint” on me…. Meaning I’m the very first thing they see… other than their hatch mates… And….We have a new baby roo that’s a blue double laced barnevelder, he’s the son of our main blue barnevelder roo…. He’s 8 weeks old and incredibly affectionate and loving…. He literally hops on our shoulder when it’s feed and water time. He loves to be handled and loved on!! Sweetest little chick ever! Roosters need to be handled constantly when little….very, very important. They also need to know that you, as their keeper, are the Alpha… it’s when they aren’t handled enough, they become weary of humans… so they become the Alpha… they will think of you as competition every time they see you…. And they’ll try to dominate you. Recipe for disaster! I do know tho, that one “bad roo” experience will ruin a chicken keepers attitude for a lifetime towards roo’s. My mother is 87, she was brutally attacked at age 3 years old on my grandparents farm. She nearly died… Roos go for the neck on children…. I don’t know what my grandparents were thinking. I’d never have a young child near a roo as a precaution… those spurs when mature, can literally slice a child open from ear to ear. Even with friendly Roos like mine…. I’d never have a child alone with a rooster. Ever.

You can fill up the white part of feeder to the top - no need to spoon into the holes, lol. Also, you can get a clamp for the lamp, so it won't fall into the brooder. Put the light to one end of the pen, so the chicks can go under it or get away from it if they get too hot.

A tip for your brooder: you could make a small platform with mesh screen that is similar to the lid you made and put the feeder and waterer on it so that the chicks won’t scratch so much pine flakes and poop into the water. I’m not a OG chicken lady but I have learned a lot since I got my chicks in the spring of 2020. I started with 10 chicks that I thought were all pullets but ended up with one rooster mixed in. Now we have around 30 hens and roosters lol.

I have had chickens for 4 years now. It is super important starting on day 3 to handle your baby chicks every day as they grow. Especially the rooster. It will make them friendly, and your rooster will not be aggressive. Pick them up gently and talk to them, pet them like a baby kitten.

I've been homesteading for 24 years. Today's chickens rarely go broody. Because of the extreme domestication. The likelihood of one sitting eggs and raising more chickens is slim. When I got lucky, two bantam hens went broody. I bought fertilized eggs from a neighbor with a roo. I gave them 6 eggs each. I borrowed an incubator. They hatched 8 out of their dozen. I got 4. If you want to raise chickens for food, get an incubator. If you really want to raise food fast. Buy meat rabbits!
