I learned with mine to dig and start a mud hole filled with water when moving to another pad. Helps keep the drinking water clean n full longer. Especially in the summer months.

I run all my pigs on my back 15 acres which is wooded/forest land . I train my pigs to the hotwire win a smaller pen with a AC powered 60 mile energy box and after a week the pigs stay clear of the wire, when I move them to their pasture/forest land. Which is powered by a normal Premier one solar energizer. The only time I have to go back to the AC powered energizer is when its time to breed and I add a boar to the mix as well no matter how well trained they are when it comes to mating the urge to mate overpowers the urge to avoid being shocked...

Love this! We have 5 acres, and a decent of that is in dense shade and woods. Been thinking about “forest pigs” for a while, so it’s good to see it done right. Anything you would do differently next time? Brave move on no perimiter fence!

Hmm... not really. This worked out really well. I only wish I would have done it sooner!

Consider putting their waterer half under the electric fence. Enough room to drink, but not enough they will climb into it

fun stuff! your pigs look great. we're about 1 month out and i cant wait to get rid of my pigs. theyre likely a bit big for my butcher date... not looking forward to loading day. ever drag a 400 pound hog onto a trailer? not fun. if yours dont load onto a trailer, try putting a 5 gal bucket over their head and push them backwards up onto the ramp.... works like a charm... i usually aim to get my pigs out by september when hunting season kicks off so chores are lighter in the morning... and i consider july my month of unrest. the pigs are large and ready to go... but waiting... my new doper ram this year is nipping at the bit to get to the ladies... and has to wait till august to avoid christmas lambs. not a happy boy... the fun of it all... can't wait to get the waiting over with so we can breathe :P ever think you'll get into crossbreeds for sheep?

Where were you 5 days ago!?!?! 😂 Loading them made me never want to do pigs every again. Oh man! I don't know their weights, I'd imagine they are around 250lbs each. I honestly can't imagine 400lbs. My story is embarrassing. I had to use tie downs and pull them on with a team of five people per hog.
