regarding the subtitles, there was a recent episode where they retconned Tokens name, so now it is spelled like JRR Tolkien. They also went and adjusted the subtitles of past episodes to mess with the audience (best they could, looks like they missed some)

Actually they did it perfectly, the joke is that Stan is the only one who thinks it's Token. So whenever someone else's says it it's Tolkien, but whenever Stan says it's Token

Eyyy!!! I'm at 9:57 and, dude, that was me too. That's how I got into the goth scene. I saw this episode of Southpark when I was 13 or 14 and loved the music too. I never heard music like that before. I instantly fell in love with the goth kids. I loved the way they looked, their attitude, and the background music! I never heard of goth b4, so i did research online and boom, I discovered a whole new world. To this day i mostly listen to gothic rock, cold wave, postpunk, and deathrock, among many other genres. And i still use 80's goth inspiration in my look.
