Is the 2018 Roush Stage 2 Mustang Convertible a SERIOUS performer?

Just bought 2020 Roush Stage 2 convertible. It is BAD ASS. Yes, too much $$ but every time I crank it up, I smile. I'm 57 and have more miles behind me than in front of me. Worth it. 2020 has a few more add ons than the 2018. Silver with black accent. I'm a 3 generation Ford peddler with Mustang in my genes...

Well, first, I agree with you about the nonfunctional scoops. If you're going to go that way, make them functional. The car has some suspension and brake upgrades, that's cool, but mainly it's just a lot of visual bling. The thing is, when I see Roush on a Mustang, I expect there to be a significant increase in "GO." In that category, that's just a stock Mustang. I know a lot of folks want to be totally unique, and there's nothing wrong with that, but personally, if I'm going to add ~$25k to the cost of the car, I want more than just eye candy. I'd much rather apply that money to stuff that will set my butt back in the seat. I think it's a really cool looking car, but I wouldn't go for it myself.

Hey Joe, I like and appreciate your reviews, but I have to zonk you on this one. There is one bit of misinformation that needs to be set straight. The rollbar that you alluded to and said adds protection is, in fact, non-functional and only for looks. It is called a “style bar” and provides no rollover protection. Being the owner of a 2019 ruby red GT convertible, this was one of the first options I looked into, and was disappointed to find out that these were just eye candy. I agree with you that the radio antenna on the back bumper is antiquated. That is the reason why you do not see rear spoilers on mustang convertibles. Almost all the wings on the market hit the antenna when you put the trunk up. I am in total agreement with you on the majority of your observations. I think the new mustangs look pretty darn good straight from the factory, without having to spend a lot of money on upgrades that are purely cosmetic. I would rather put that cost difference into performance mods. Thanks for listening and for all that you do!

That's a fantastic looking Roush Mustang. Great wheels and stance, but I wish they'd done a complete front fascia replacement like they did with the '15-'17MY. If you can, I'd love to see you review an '18/'19 Saleen.......I love what they've done with the White and Yellow Labels :)

I only do quarter mile running at my local quarter-mile track, I never go to the circuits like VIR or Laguna Seca. I like a convertible that I can run fast at the quarter-mile track and then just drive home with the top down go to drive-in movie theater or what have you and just have fun with the car top down after racing.

Awesome review once again Joe! I totally agree with you in regards to that front end, those two fake vents draw way too much attention for them not to be functional. However, that arch when the top is down has always been a real eye catcher too me. All in all, i'd save my 70k and go with something else.

70 grand?! Zoinks!!! That is too much for a car which only has exterior mods but no extra performance add on. And those non functional air vents will in fact increase drag and fuel efficiency will def suffer than your run of the mill Mustang GT Convertible. the Performance Pack Mustang GT controls the active exhaust from the Drive mode switch on the center console for like 1 grand extra. So that Roush Control Knob is kinda pointless. Without those crazy dealer markups of the Shelby GT350/R that same amount for this Roush Mustang could buy you even the GT350R and still have left over cash for a nice fancy dinner with your wife when you drive to the restaurant

To start, I am not a fan of convertible, primarily for safety and security reasons, plus the noise on soft tops during heavy rains. I still like the Camaros better, but do love the latest Mustangs. I agree with almost everything you said again, you usually being more familiar with all these details. Zonks for those fake front fascia and rear fender scoops, etc. At this price, it's comparable to a Camaro ZL1, which is good for an aftermarket tuner vehicle, but can it match the stock performance of the ZL1. I know it costs a lot more, but I prefer the Shelby GT350? But it's great that these great options are out there, and dealerships like this making them available there.

$70k???!! I rather get a 13-14 Gt500 for $45-50k and still have money to add mods on it or i can get C6 ZR1 for $60k. The stage 2 should've came with some bolt ons maybe make around 500-550 hp and then if you wanted more then you got your stage 3 option with 700+hp.

Seems like getting a GT350 or GT350r would be a better buy. I hate to say it but this car appears to be an overpriced “just add driver” ricer with all those nonfunctional add ons :/

Non functional vents on a $70,000 car. That’s crazy man. Your paying $30,000 just for the name roush. How are they charging $70,000 for a $40,000 tops car. No performance upgrades just cosmetic. The biggest ripoff out there

My 2018 Mustang GT premium Performance pack one Haddaway nicer interior they called showstopper it was red and black and I had all the carbon fiber on the dashboard
