FIRST DRIVE: The CR-V is redesigned for 2023 and Honda tried to make some bi changes. This compact SUV competes with the Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAv4, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. On the outside of the EX-L trim you will fin LED headlights, gloss black grill, and new sheet metal. On the outside there is a new interior based off the Honda Civic, 9in infotainment screen, and leather seating. Under the hood the is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 190HP & is mated to a CVT. Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a new SUV worth the PRICE?

CR-V was never about 0-60 time, same with the RAV4, but both are top sellers in their class. Personal zero to 60 is not a selling point for me, reliability is tops, my Accord sport has 175k miles, and may not impress you 0-60 but I out mileage most with an 80 miles an hour avg from San Antonio to Kansas with no issues.

So I gather from here the new CR-V 1.5 Turbo is Loud and Slow. And not a corner carver like my 21’ CX-5. No rear connectivity and no ventilated seats. I got so much more with my CX-5 for the same money last year. Heads up display, heated steering wheel and heated rear seats, Bose sound system, lower front windshield heater, power side mirrors and more.

@@n1jim hello. I have owned or leased 6 Mazdas and I sold them for 5 years while I was in college. They are solid and reliable and affordable to maintain. Change the oil often and take care of it. They are smooth and well put-together. I’ve owned Hondas for my wife, they are okay but not as fun to drive in the corners. Mazda has beautiful steering feel. I highly recommend the CX-5, any year. Im currently in a 2021 that’s got everything on it. It’s a lease. I get one every 3 years now. But my parents and siblings have Mazdas and they all love and enjoy them. I’ve had a few with 230,000 miles.

@@2004cyrus Thanks for your prompt reply! I'm also planning to lease it for 4 or 5 years. I had the Civic hatchback sport 2019 and was leasing it and bought it out and sold it with a nice amount. Honda's here in Canada is like gold! I'm now thinking to buy an SUV for me and my wife to enjoy the ride and wanted to get advantage of its features, like: Bose system, and other features. I tried the car myself and I loved it and waiting for Honda to get the new CRV 2023 to try it and see. I love Hondas but I'm seriously planning to switch to Mazda now to try it out and see :)

Something I dont get is last generation you got LED turn signals front and rear. This generation just LED front turn signals. I dont get that cost cutting feature. I dont know if its because of the chip shortage or what but it would be a nice touch to have them
@exoticcar5482

I think I know what it might be. This generation all trims have LED headlights standard. Last model only the upper trims had them. Otherwise they were halogen. Nonetheless I agree with you because LEDs are NOT expensive anymore. It's especially asinine how no matter what trim you get on this new CR-V you will still be stuck with incandescent rear turn signals. Even worse I bet the reverse lights are LED across all trims now which is very stupid considering how little they light up compared to how much the turn signals are used (or at least should be used). Same BS Honda pulls with the Acura RDX

I think Honda made a big mistake by choosing to just “bolt on” the infotainment screen like they have with the Accord and Civic. It looks so tacky and goofy. I own a 2017 CR-V and it is very obvious why they didn’t change much it much through the 2022 model. I’ve owned a slew of vehicles and my CR-V is the best all-around vehicle. Easy to drive, smooth, quiet, powerful, 35-40 mpg, huge interior. I’m sure the 2023 model will have all of this, but I can’t get past the goofy screen. The Hyundai people did their best to imitate the CR-V’s feel and functionality, and have come out ahead.

You don't have to buy an Acura or a Lexus, to get luxury features and tech. When the Koreans was doing it, other brands was taking noticed, including Toyota! I can't get over the fact that the starting point for a CRV is 32 grand. 4k more than the LX was. What are you getting with a new EX that wasn't in the outgoing LX?

A lot of things you can’t see. And it’s longer and wider, 2 years of maintenance at no charge, the safety equipment adds a lot, the sun roof. And most of all, Joe Bidens inflation!!

Once you are moving in these things, on a dry road, the 4wd system won't send any power to the back so whether it maxes at 40 or 50 %, no matter. The old model had a display option showing how torque was split. Be surprised if this one doesn't. Don't hat would show you for sure. Also there's such a slow initial launch with these things I doubt there's any need for torque transfer on dry roads either. Though it may do some to pre - empt the possibility. Off road or in snow or wet or even on steep inclines different story. The 1.5 has evolved into a decent engine, after a raucous origin in the Fit. But will never be a K series substitute.

It seems alright for me maybe when see it on the road might grow on me think the HR-V is more modern being smaller or maybe the color still might be worth the $$$ one see on terms of reliability hopeful it's better than current generation.

The Sport Touring is a hybrid 2 motor electric engine. The hybrid models of Honda vehicles have no transmissions; basically the gear selector is electronic.
