I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time! I bought my Cyber Gray Elantra N DCT at the end of June. Everything in your review was spot on 100%. It does have some stuff, like the cheap hard plastic on the interior, that reminds you you’re still in a Hyundai (there are some Korean market OEM Alcantara bits you can swap in that fixes that though) but once you put it in N mode and hit the twisties that stuff doesn’t matter anymore. Even my kids love it despite being so spartan in the back. And just like you said, you don’t have to spend money on an exhaust, better tires, suspension bits or better brakes because it comes stock with all those. It’s truly the most fun I’ve had in any of my past cars. And if you want to take it easy with the family you can just put it in Normal mode or Eco and have a comfortable ride and get outstanding gas mileage. You have to give Hyundai kudos for giving you the option of a DCT or a manual. They really did their homework and made this car for the enthusiast. As always love your reviews because you don’t hold any punches and give us real deal honest feedback. Thanks again Joe!

How's the road noise while you are on normal or eco? Any exhaust drone? Congrats on the sweet ride.
@n-power-automotive2 жыл бұрын
@@johnleewins3814 thanks! No exhaust drone at all. The exhaust is perfection. The road noise is about what you would expect for a compact sedan. It’s not horrible but it’s definitely not luxury car quiet. Plus the Michelin P4Ss are noisy tires in general, but they handle incredible, so it’s a trade off. I will say it actually has less wind noise than my ‘21 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T did. That car was a disappointment.

@@n-power-automotive I’m curious to hear what your gripes were with the Accord? I was very close to buying a manual 2019 accord 2.0 last week and I was starting to think I missed out.
@n-power-automotive2 жыл бұрын
@@mauriciogarcia4190 my biggest gripe was the seat comfort. Sounds weird for a Honda, but for some reason the drivers seat was so uncomfortable to me. It felt like I was sitting on a metal rail. Also, the electronics in the car were very glitchy. Apple CarPlay would stop working anytime I tried playing music while using Google Maps. And then the infotainment screen would just black out for mo reason pretty much at least once a day. It was very annoying. Another odd thing with my particular Accord was if I tried to auto start it on a really hot day it wouldn’t work and when I did start the car from inside I’d get a check engine light. It was probably due to modern Honda batteries absolutely sucking. Performance-wise it was really fun, had nice torque down low which for a owner of many different Hondas in the past was a really odd feeling, but it definitely pulled really nicely up until about 5,500 RPM then I’d kind of hit a wall. I had the 10spd auto, which was mostly a decent transmission, but really too many gears for a smooth operation. It was pretty jerky around town and would have a huge pause to figure out which gear to go into when I’d floor it. That wouldn’t be a problem with the 6spd manual, though with the 6spd I heard the shifting was good but not great like the Civic Type R or even the Si, so you need better shifter bushings to correct that.
@mauriciogarcia41902 жыл бұрын
@@n-power-automotive awesome feedback! It sucks to hear about the cons especially being a Honda you just want it to be perfect but sadly nothing is. I was attracted by the balance of straight-line performance and “perceived” comfort, but surprisingly you’re not the first person to say that about the drivers seat. That’s one of the reasons why I like the Civic Si/Type R and Elantra Ns in that they appear to be a lot more stiff and uncomfortable than they really are and so far the seats (I haven’t had the chance to drive the type R) are all very comfortable on those 3 cars. But I’ve never owned any of those so take my opinion lightly… P.S cyber gray DCT is exactly what I’d go for! Congrats on the car and enjoy for many years to come🤙🏽

Another great review! I picked up my Ceramic White DCT in July and am loving it! I am waiting to hit 600 break in miles to go on throttle with her but dang, this is one hell of a car. I previously had a 2019 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio with the 8 speed ZF and this IMO is a better shifting machine. Not a 500 HP beast like that but just as fun. I traded in my 2022 Civic Si for the N and I like this car better only because of the extra power. I do miss the magical 6 speed transmission in the Civic and had been #1 on the list for the new Type R until my salesman called a week ago and said whatever the MSRP is, they are adding $10K to it. I withdrew my reservation and put a deposit down on another Civic Si the same day. But I still will have this Elantra N for the power and will have the Civic Si for the shifting. Your reviews of these two cars are the best! We live in the 'golden age' of affordable performance cars and with the EV wave coming we will look back in awe years from now and say remember when.. I love your vids Raiti! I just got mine, intense blue 6sp manual 2 days ago. 2k over msrp. It is everything I expected and more. A message to those who are reading this and put a deposit down. I put a $1k deposit down at my local dealer and was told it would be 7-13 weeks for delivery and they agreed to sell it at MSRP. Well, 15 weeks later and when I checked for updates they said they couldn't get their hands on it. I was under the impression that I was factory ordering it but I don't think Hyundai actually does this. All my money was doing was reserving it if the dealer was actually allocated one by Hyundai. At that point, my local dealership helped me locate a dealer 80 miles away that had the car I wanted. At that point I just paid the 2K markup because my patience and putting a deposit down was not going to work for me. I'm thrilled to have the car but beware that if you put a deposit down, there might not be a guarantee you get the car. I drove the N back to the local dealer in order to get my deposit back and one of the salesman came to the street to check out my car. He was thrilled to see one in person. I'm telling you this car is like very hard to find. If you really want it, you gotta really pursue it. Good luck!

Great review of a fantastic beast of a car!! I've had my Phantom Black EN since June 2022. She is my 14th car (I may or may not have a slight obsession with cars) and hands down, my favorite of them all. While the red trim is a status symbol for the EN, it's just one of my least favorite colors. I wish they would have other color options available for that part. I have since changed the red trim to teal so she's looking quite extra now and I love it. I do also wish they would have added more ambient lighting or at least added an option for it. Of course I've added more because I like to shine bright like a diamond! 😊 I typically don't keep a car longer than 1.5-2 years...I think the streak has been broken for now. I'm going to hold onto her and continue customizing for sure. I think the only car at this point that would sway that decision would be if/when the Ioniq 6 N comes to fruition! This vehicle is nicer than $100,00+ luxury vehicles. My advice is work on your credit, 700 is what you’ll need. go to a local credit union and apply there. you’ll get the lowest interest rate. got 5% interest on mine. not the best, but im 22 so i can’t complain.

4.8 0-60 if factual very impressive little sport sedan ! Kinda want one 😏
@sciencesold_2 жыл бұрын
All of the N cars have slightly understated performance numbers, like with HP and torque, typically what's advertised is at the crank, where as the Ns all have the wheel HP/torque advertised.
@wavyhomeboy2 жыл бұрын
Didnt expect 4.8 0-60 with 286 hp. Definitely understated

$33,000 and you know that the majority of the money is spent on performance. It's probably $2,000 for just those wheels.They look better than what BMW is equipping with their vehicles.

Have this exact car in my garage. Only 2 negatives i have found so far is ... 1) the lower seat bolstering is a bit constrictive. I'm a 34" waist with a 36" leg and I find my thighs can get uncomfortable if i don't make sure to position my legs a specific way so they aren't pressing on the bolsters. 2) The lock/unlock touch sensor on the door handles almost never works without several attempts which is odd as the older style button on my wife's Sante Fe works flawlessly.
@nlmathias1232 жыл бұрын
How does it ride in its softest settings? Other reviews I've seen stated it's a harsh ride even in the normal settings.
@Fauxbra2 жыл бұрын
@@nlmathias123 It's not harsh in the normal setting. It is still firm but compliant and not jarring, End of the day it's a track ready performance sedan...no getting around that. That may also be impacted by the quality of the roads around you. I'm in the south so the roads are pretty good. I could see where patchy roads and potholes may grate on you.

My biggest criticism of the Elantra N, is that they didn't input enough HP and other performance enhancements, to directly compete with the likes of the Civic Type R and the Golf R. But still a seemingly great car.

Wow I have to say as much as I love this car I'm just a little disappointed as well. Joe you pointed out some real good stuff here. I also said that a few years back with the Veloster N. Give us a model that has better materials and functionality in that cabin. I want the luxury along with the power. If Hyundai is worried about losing 0 to 60 speed, then step up the HP like the Type R. Hyundai could have killed it here, 310 hp, 311 lb torque, then padded those hard azz doors, padded that dang grab handle, padded the center console trim. And +, you give the type r a run for its money. Honda doing its usual, sitting back waiting to see what Hyundai comes up with and then will make the R that much better.

No need for Brembo’s for the N line. I have the 2020 Veloster N. It would drive up the cost of the vehicle coming from a third party. I like how Hyundai design the brakes in house to keep the cost down. Brakes have enough bite.
