I found the Demuro review so strange....yes, the WRX comparison was sooooo belabored as to be a total distraction, plus the drive segment was literally....nothing. I have found his detailed "quirks and features" reviews enjoyable over the years but this one was strangely flat and almost weirdly dismissive of the car--- as well as being completely incongruent with now a ton of other drive impressions by other folks.

Sweet review 😎 As a side note: “Hyundai’s ‘N’ represents two important elements. First, the Namyang district in South Korea, the birthplace of the N brand and location of Hyundai’s Global R&D Center. Second, the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany, which is home to Hyundai’s Technical Center which is used to test the N vehicles. Great review! Just an FYI, the rear bracing does actually unbolt pretty easily. So you'll lose the added rigidity for cornering, but if you're planning a trip to IKEA and need that extra space for their extra long packaging, that bracing does come out so you can fit larger items inside. Then you can just rebolt it back in once you're done.

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are such incredible vehicles when you factor in value, reliability, build quality, warranty and some really great styling on most of their vehicles. I DO realize that this is a driver’s performance car but because it’s a sedan there has to be some expectation of putting passenger’s in the back, and that’s where it falls short. There are no split seats, no armrest, no vents, no USB ports, no pockets, no phone holders. Just a seat. It’s somewhat embarrassing.

I'm in a mk7 golf R right now and it's a 2015 so I've had it for about 7 years and time for a change. No need for AWD as I'm in Florida... And the mk8 Golf R is way too expensive. I've been looking at the Veloster N DCT or this one. I have a question for you since you've already have the Veloster N manual. What is the main reason you're looking to switch? Is it the looks? Is it the interior? The 26 extra HP and almost 30 lbs of extra torque? Wanting the 8-speed wet clutch DCT? Or just a combination of everything I mentioned? I know that the 2021 VN has 275 instead of 250 HP like in your 2020, and has the DCT option. And from what I understand in terms of a driver's car and performance, they're both pretty similar, yet the Elantra N is a bit more refined when you tone down the settings. Have you given the Elantra a test run, or are you just going to go in blind? I personally would feel much more at home in the Elantra interior than the Veloster N. Especially because the 20/20 Veloster and didn't have the 2021 Recaro style seats. However I am much prefer the looks of the Veloster N. But the interior is way too budget for me, and that's where we're sitting, and where we have all our fun so interior is really important to me. Sorry about the long post but there aren't too many people who post that have a VN and I'd love to hear your reasons for wanting to switch to a car that's very similar mechanically. Probably a lot of the stuff I mentioned. Oh yeah and have you kept it completely stock or maybe a simple jb4 power bump? That's what I think I would do for an extra 25-30 HP and TQ. Just enough to not upset the chassis or the car's natural behavior.
@robertdean3872 жыл бұрын
@@Daveyboy_RS3 My 2020 had the performance package, so it did have 275 hp. And I agree with you that I actually prefer the exterior looks of the Veloster N over the Elantra N. I actually already sold my Veloster N picked up a Cyber Grey EN with DCT. I mostly wanted a bigger back seat for family expansion as well as an auto for my wife. The interior is a huge step up from the VN. The extra torque is also noticeable. And while the DCT is great, and shifts faster than I ever could, I do miss rowing my own gears a little bit. They do drive very similar but the EN just feels more solid. Maybe it’s the weight or build quality but it just feels like a more solid car. Like moving from a civic to an accord kind of solid. I hope that answers your questions. I do miss my VN, but the EN is fantastic. It had a few minor interior rattles that are driving me nuts but I’ll find them eventually.
@Daveyboy_RS32 жыл бұрын
@@robertdean387 yeah you pretty much confirmed my suspicions on the switch. I really got to see the Elantra N in person, before I knock exterior. I'm sure seeing it on my phone doesn't do it justice. I was also under impression that all veloster N 2020 and earlier had 250 HP regardless of how it was optioned and they only bumped it up to 275 in 2021. At least that's how it was in the U.S. And I know this is a silly issue but why couldn't they add the awesome red NGS button to the Veloster N for 2022 like it is on the Kona and the Elantra?? I love that NGS (or rev matching for the manuals) red button. And I really like the leather wrapped steering wheel in the Elantra! Looks nice and thick and sporty like an M car wheel. Is it fast though? Or, does it just make you feel like you are going fast? And, given the warranty, OK, but is the engine going to blow?

It's pretty quick in motion. These engines have proved to be pretty reliable in Velosters so no indication they would be any different here.

Great video! enjoyed. so you mentioned E 46 in the beginning and I'm now wondering does it drive or has fun factor kind of like E46? I'm curious to know because I won Veloster N DCT, and would be proud if it has similar feel like driving M series haha.

The E46 feels quite different but mostly because it's just a totally different time period. Heck they're 20 years old at this point

I actually traded in my 2021 Civic Type R for a Cyber gray Elantra N DCT. I have no regrets! The car drives better has much better tech my woman can drive it and what’s amazing it’s actually a little Quicker than the Type R was. The Elantra N DCT is amazing!

Can’t believe it’s named N Line. Sounds similar to N53 Inline 6 Engine and M Series, Lmao
@EatSleepDrive2 жыл бұрын
Technically this one is just the N. N-Line refers to their lesser tier model more equivalent to the Civic Si. This is closer to their Civic Type R offering, although obviously not that hardcore. But either way, I agree. I think they could have done better with the naming...

Funny, I own a Veloster N. I came from a RWD turbo and was originally not even interested in test driving it. I discovered that it was impossible to find a manual BRZ/GR86 within a full day's drive from my home. I decided to give the VN a test drive. I bought it... No car has made me smile like this one. BTW, put your Elantra N on a dyno. That 276 claimed horsepower is way low. That engine and the Veloster N engine are NOT the same.
@jeremyhenry312611 ай бұрын
I know this comment is a year old. But I'm hoping you found out that they are the same. The only difference is in the turbo.
@arthurmroyce11 ай бұрын
@jeremyhenry3126 The EN has a larger turbo. They are not the same and are not interchangeable without at least a tune. The EN is pushing just North of 300 Hp at the crank. A good 25+ Hp stock for stock.
@jeremyhenry312611 ай бұрын
@@arthurmroyce I don't understand your comment. I didn't say a thing about a tune. About not needing one. They are the EXACT same engine. Go look it up. Which yes, you need a tune but that means you can just get an EN or hybrid or GTX2867 Garret turbo. Slap any of those on. And the EN is only pushing 276, 286 with the N grin button which is pushing more boost for 30 seconds. That's it. All of the VN's even on it's tiny turbo were pushing 275. So it's only a slight difference. Not to mention nearly 100 lbs lighter in the VN manual for manual and roughly an 80lb weight difference in the VN auto vs EN auto. I am failing to understand what it is you're trying to say. It's like you came to say I'm wrong about something just to say I'm wrong. Not to mention you need more than the EN turbo and a tune. You have to get an aftermarket HPFP, and Kona N hot side charge pipe. Then you can run the EN turbo. You can't just slap the turbo on and a tune. Won't end well. The VN HPFP can't handle what the EN turbo pushes. And the VN hot side charge pipe is too small. Becomes a chokepoint.
@arthurmroyce11 ай бұрын
@jeremyhenry3126 same engine but the EN has a bigger turbo. I was not clear. The ECU is different between them too. Guys on the VN forum are looking into the EN turbo. Not a 1 to 1 swap.
@jeremyhenry312611 ай бұрын
@@arthurmroyce Definitely not a 1 to 1 swap. But most people that have an EN disable most of what is on it. The biggest thing it comes with is that annoying octane learning. It's great if you casually drive the car and sometimes want a power boost. But not if you're trying to make any real power with the car. Can definitely swap them though and run the EN turbo on the VN if you get the hotside charge pipe and HPFP.
