Is the 2020 Jaguar XE R-Dynamic a BETTER luxury sport sedan than an Audi A4?

The UPDATE Jaguar XE is turning up the wick when it comes to performance. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 296HP & mated to a ZF 8-speed and gets power down to the ground through AWD. It's refreshed exterior features a new grill, headlights, front fascia, rear bumper and wheels. On the inside you will find an upgraded interior with better materials, and technology. Is the 2020 Jaguar XE R-Dynamic a better luxury sport sedan than an Audi A4?

I have the supercharged V6 version they made in 2018. One of my favorite cars to drive in town. I doubt I could be happy with a 295 horsepower 4 cylinder. The soul of the car has been taken, along with the suspension and zf hp70. Hopefully Jaguar realized what it had and brings back the V6 to right the wrong that has been done to the XE lineup.

Daryl Harvey my XE was $58.6k back in 2017 but i have the supercharged v6 and it’s completely loaded. I’m surprised with such a slower engine (and worst sounding) jag was bold enough to have the pricing so high.

found a used 2017 for extremely low miles for 30k, fully loaded interior. IMO good deal for that price. been test driving lots of other vehicles and no others have found such a good balance between a smooth, comfortable ride and sportiness like this xe

i have the former 35t with 350~hp and RWD, drive it around this very same area Raiti, absolutely rips. Tail end comes out when you want it, stays planted in the windy roads when you need it. Such a fun car

I couldn't agree more, was just about to post this! This car is $6K MORE than a loaded Stinger, less than with the G70 but still...NO WAY IN HELL! Besides the money, let's talk about reliability, here's where nothing has changed with Jaguar! More power/looks/smarts/savings/etc with the Stinger or G70. On a side note, if you went with the Stinger, the money you saved could go towards some new, unique rims to set your Stinger apart, G70 doesn't have this issue as their rims look REALLY good IMO.

That Jag is a sweet ride. I love what's going on with these high output sedans coming out of Germany and the US (Cadillac comes to mind, I love what they're doing.). But I don't think it can compete with the S4 or BMW 3 series. Great review Joe!

A True Sleeper, definitely slots in under the radar, of the competition. Wheels and Tires, are absolutely correct, I'm OK, with not having Brembo's, they can't be the brake manufacturer for everyone! Clean body lines, engine bay, and performance numbers are comparable. Interior, clean and straight forward, but why the two tier passenger side? Would've preferred black seats. Too much Brown! Hood over the dash display, looks a bit, "Large"! 🙄 Fair statement, on the need for more power! Interesting comments you made about the reliability of Jaguar's. I know two people who drive a Jaguar, and they've never spoken bad about their reliability. Another great review, on this refresh, but they're don't make it to the level of the Germans! 🏁🏁

Love the looks of this, but in the 2.0 Turbo four class the Giulia is unmatched so I bought a Giulia. However if I find a 2020 XE R-Dynamic around $20K in four years I may grab one for fun. I have a 2011 XJ-R and all I've replaced is the water pump and one of the sun visors.

Is it better than an Audi A4? At 58 000 dollars? Of course not. The front has a worse design (one side air curtain fake, the other not), less powerful (50hp down from a S4), 4cyl against v6, drivers gages are state lengths behind the S4, dissapointing brake calibers. The only thing it has over the Audi are the paddles. So yeah, Audi wins 98/100.

Jaguar is a nice brand! I don’t think they’re as prestigious as Land Rover anymore so unfortunately name isn’t going to sell because this generation doesn’t know much about Jaguar . Advertise and market the brand you’ll start selling more units.

I owned a 2018 for 6 months and got ride of it. Pure junk electronics, way too slow, in 6 months it was in the shop 3 times. In 6 months it lost 50% of value. It’s not a myth or story, they truly junk. Plus they cost a lot to insure. I took a bath on it, but was happy to get rid of it.
