Great video! Saleen mustangs were great performers and rolling pieces of art , kinda like the Callaway Corvettes of that same time. I think there’s just less demand for this kind of work. I mean people will always be modding cars but they just come so fast from the factory now. And just a few years after that saleen model. You had the Boss 302 , and the Camaro Z28 . Track ready cars from the factory!

What a crazy few months it has been. I'm not (or at least I wasn't) a car enthusiast per se, but I found your channel while looking for reviews on the WRX. I wanted a car with a bit more power than your average economy car. Today I found myself purchasing a NEW Focus RS which I pick up tomorrow - can't wait! Your channel was the biggest factor for this decision and I wanted to say thanks.

Love the way these 05-09 Saleens look, very retro but futuristic. If I ever get back into a mustang, it will be one of these.

They aren't that great, especially for the money they demanded new. The build quality sucks. Stock GT steering wheel and rear brakes. A blower and they produce about 360 RWHP which will get you walked by a 2001 Z28 6 speed with full exhaust, SLP lid, cam, and tune. My friend had an Extreme. The door panel leather was peeling off, the steering wheel decal was coming off, the cruise control quit. This is on a car that lives in a garage and has under 9,000 miles today. The new owner is a Saleen fanatic and apologist for the shortcomings. If you look at Mustangs save for a Shelby or look at 2011 or newer Coyote offerings. I love the looks of Saleens but Steve punched out in 2007 for good reason. They were sourcing GM GTO specific T-56 trannies at one point. The writing was on the wall.

MrAristes a saleen can easily be modified to 500whp I have a saleen charged GT making 450whp on 7.5psi I can take on 10+ cámaros cammed with full exhaust and full and full bolt on challengers it was just the regulations from back then all ford engines tuned to the least to save most gas , way better quality than alot of cars of their time talking about American cars Ford was and still ahead of all American companies .

A bit late to the video but I love the retro/future look of the 05-09 Mustang ! Of course I do, I own a 06 GT and with a few body add ons these cars can look so freaking badass ! That being said….Steve Saleen nailed it !! Oh, and Barricade (cop car) in the 2007 Transformers movie was so badass, and also a Saleen !!

I remember they were so amaizing, specially with that huge sticker on the windshield. The bad part is that they were so expensive! I'll say to expensive for that era, and so bad on gas mileage. 2006 was a very bad year for this type of gas monsters. Ask Jeep and Hummer. Lol. Like always excellent review!

@@Blazerghost Because the car was overpriced, had a blower, and was about a match for a bone stock C5 Corvette in a straight line. If it isn't fast, doesn't make 400 RWHP even with a blower, AND.......it gets shitty gas mileage what's the point?

After glorious 60s and 70s this is the last authentic Mustang of its breed! To me today's Mustangs are phony to me!! As Skyline was the king shown in NFS games where as Saleen was shown king in Midnight Club Los Angeles! Many car will come and go but always have a dream to own one!! There is one more beautiful Mustang i have in my dreams, wish i could show you the info and pics!! Any contact source?? Subbed already!!

The Saleen S281’s are awesome cars but with the new 5.0 pushing close to 500 horsepower I don’t think most people feel the need to add much more. Exhaust, intake, and a tune and most people are going to be plenty happy with that

yes but these stand out when you drive one. I have a '05 sonic blue supercharged and it gets a lot of attention when I drive it. Not to mention mine will appreciate over time and a plain ole GT will devalue. ;>)

Believe it or not, Saleen is still in business and doing well. When this video was uploaded, the company was already back on its feet since 2015. He made a 2018 Saleen Mustangs around this time when you made this video. Saleen just made a Saleen S1 which is a Ecoboost 2.4 motor and both Saleen White and Black edition Mustangs. Check it out!😎

Did Saleen end up changing the rear geometry and put a different diff in these cars, I always felt that was the biggest draw back of those model of mustangs. If I remember correctly Roush did and it turned it into a completely different car, it didn't seem to be magnetically attracted to crowds anymore lol.

The 350 and 350R are badass, Super snakes out next year and rumour has it 700+hp with a gen 3 5.2ltr coyote supercharged... Kinda wish they did something with the Voodoo motor, cant have it all I guess lol.

There's so many different type of Mustangs you got the Shelby the saleen the Roush Mustang and I believe the Roush has three different stages

IMO the Saleen brand/models were discontinued because they were over priced. You didn't get a "SUPER STANG" for the price you paid. Styling was great but you were able to get the Saleen styling on a normal 5. slow stang for a few hundred bucks. I remember saying to my buddies... Oh there is a Mustang with a Saleen wing. I would see Grand Nationals and Camaro's smoke Saleen's. IMO it was always more of a styling upgrade then a power upgrade. I know towards the end the power was there, but I think it was too late at that point. The Rousch models were known as the Mustang with power at that point and not the Saleen models anymore. Your RS would smoke that thing LOL. "OVER PRICED"

Note , I herd that if you want to finance a Saleen the banks say no because when they run the vin. # it comes in as a mustang GT. Thus, that is what they will finance for! Need to have lots of extra cash in your pocket. Just what I hear.
