Raja Ampat - Turtle rescue

Diver rescues sea turtle on Raja Ampat
While filming a sea turtle a diver discovered that the turtle has a hook in his mouth with a fishing line attached to it which was wrapped around the turtles fin.
The turtle was not able to swim and probably also not able to eat anymore because it could hardly open his mouth.
With help of a knife the diver was able to cut the line and release the fin of the turtle.
Unfortunately he was not able to remove the hook, but was able to remove the remaining fishing line.
Although turtles can sometimes be aggressive, this turtle remained very calm and let it all happen like he knew he was being rescued.
After the line was removed the diver released the turtle which was finally able to swim again.
We are privileged that we could give something back to the underwater world through this action.
