I was in Winterthur, Switzerland, three weeks ago and visited the Technorama. On the 2nd or 3rd floor, I explored the biology "i think" department, which was truly fascinating. However, I was specifically there to see the electron microscope (SEM). I asked two young gentlemen if it was possible to turn it on, and they kindly did. The specimens we examined included a fly and a leaf, and we discussed how they gold-coat objects to make them easier to scan. The gold layer enhances visibility, which was really interesting to learn. It was a great experience overall.
@MicroscopySpecialist12 күн бұрын
I often asked to turn the SEM on in different labs, but they never let me. I had to buy my own, because it's very interesting. Yes, I will show in the next videos on the whole process in more detail, I'm working on the filming.

possible answer... 1. the tissue of a hook and loop fastener 2. there is a conductive wire inside every hair dryer, the job of the wire is to heat the air flowing out of the device. that wire is the same used in the video i think. 3. at first it looked like a broken pencil, but now that i am thinking about it, it is an electron microscope, so probably it is a cut electric wire "insulator + conductive wire inside" 4. ???? 5. a thread through a needle.

Why took you the images of those samples with 20 kV? It's ok on the Tungsten Light bulb filament but not on the pollen samples.
@MicroscopySpecialist24 күн бұрын
I'll explain it in the future episode about SEM (coming soon). The main Idea - in this particular microscope I can't control Dwell time and Line/Frame average. That's why I need higher kV to obtain a nice signal/noise. It's kinda possible to change DT but only in service engineer menu, so at this moment I simply coat the pollen with metal and use 20kV.

Hair, likely a human hair. Is that center piece looks mushy because it's freshly cut? Upd.: I even think it's a facial hair. It's not very round like head hair, but not flattened as pubic or body hair. 4. That's difficult one... I guess, some poppy seed? Though, no, they have a different structure... It should be some seed. Dried plant matter. It looks kinda like a pepper, though it would be a tiny pepper if a thread on the left bottom corner is a regular one. @MicroscopySpecialist2 ай бұрын
1. Price inquiry - please contact me via email (you can find it in "About"). 2. Yes, I had experience. Coxem EM30, Phenom. Each microscope has its pros and cons. SEC has advantages that i really like - changing the sample = Vent+Vac around one minute. It's extremely fast. 5 axis stage is also a good option and very useful. I'll prepare a video about resolution and adjustments. Phenom FEG has a higher resolution with higher price. So the choice is a difficult question. You should worry about warranty, service, price, payment method and other things. So for a benchtop SEM, SEC is my choice!
