Watched this movie yesterday. I have no words for Sarsenapati hambirrao movie. Just WOW! It has beautifully captured mainstream events in Hambirrao Mohite's life. Engaging audience by giving some insight of how marathi swarajya was built with a great leader, Shivaji Maharaj. Highlighting the military strategies Maratha's used against foreign intruders, let them be Mughals or Portuguese. Camera direction, use of light, script everything fitted perfectly to create this mesmerizing movie. Overall it was a wonderful experience to watch it in theater. Proud of our ancestors who first cared for Swarajya and then for their own life. Must watch movie.

Mohan Joshi is one of the finest actor of Indian Cinema who has come from theatre. He was ruling bollywood by his villian role just like Amrish Puri did for many years. One fine day He was shooting for 4 films on a single day and all 4 films have the similar scenes of misbehaviour with heroine. This lead to his frustration that he came back to theatre and marathi cinema. Bollywood literally wasted him.

When I spent a few years in Maharashtra, I came to know about many heroes in our history, who I had no idea about. People of Maharashtra are fortunate enough to be fully aware of the great history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the other great people of that time. The sad part though is that unfortunately due to the leftist education ministers appointed by the Congress, who wrote our history after India's independence did not let people in the other parts of the country know well about our real heroes. They were busy glorifying some other people. But I hope things change.

I agree and sad that no movie made on the life of Maharana Pratap. A great and powerful warrior king. Great point you've made here... I think that's the reason we Indian should reserve the regional languages from Hindi. Its really shocking when I know that we don't have the any movie or series based on Great Maharana Pratap, GuruGobindSingh... They were true heroes of maa bharati. I wish I could see any authentic movie/series based on thier life.

I appreciate your open and very passionate feelings about the Marathi cinema Sarsenapati Hambirrao (Mohite), our great historic leaders Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj and the other Maratha warriors as well as Rajput Ranas and Maharanas like Maharana Pratap and circumstances involving cinema industry in both Maharashtra and Rajasthan. We have great history of ousting, albeit not without having scars on our culture, the Mughals, the Turks as well as European invaders. Unfortunately, we had Congress party to rule over us since the independence and they adopted a policy of Muslim appeasement to control the vote bank. If we had Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as our first Prime Minister perhaps the educational policy and the treatment of left-over Muslims in India would have been different. Alas! That was not supposed to happen. On the contrary, Muslims became first-class citizens and the Hindus secondary. Congress's appeasement policy reached such heights that to please Muslims it even banned dramas of 'Afzal khan Vadh' (Killing of Afzal Khan by Chh. Shivaji Maharaj) in cultural programs in Ganesh Chaturthi Mahotsav in Maharashtra. Really, Congress had tried burying our glorious past in the name of secular India. Congress not only suppressed history of Maharashtra but also sidelined great thinker and freedom fighter like Veer Savarkar. For Congress India has a history starting only from Muslim invasions in India. It conveniently forgets our glorious pre-historic era history , Vedic era, Chandragupta Maurya, Chalukya, Pallava and Chola dynasties. Congress leaders and the party will forever rot in hell for suppressing true Hindu spirit. We must oust those who suppress Hindus. Tathastu !
