Excellent video about manual and automatic gears. Clear explanation. I have used I20 IVT Automatic for the past one year. Very smooth gear shift. No lag at all. Smooth acceleration will give good mileage. My car gives in city 12km pl and highways 16 kmpl. Do not expect high performance like DCT OR TC. TQ.

அருமையான தகவலுக்கு நன்றி ராஜேஷ் அவர்களே. கடந்த ஒரு வருடமாக நான் KIA CARENS DCT காரை உபயோகிப்படுத்தி வருகிறேன்... சென்னை சிட்டியில் இதன் மைலேஜ் 12 - 14. by pass -இல் செல்லும்போது இதன் மைலேஜ் 17-21 km .ஷெல் பெட்ரோல் ...இதுவரை 10800 km கடந்துள்ளது.. நான் 97km க்கு மேல் காரை ஓட்டியது கிடையாது ...DCT gear அருமை ...பிடிக்காத ஒரு விஷயம் . சிக்கனலில் நிக்கும் பொது இன்ஜின் அணைந்து விடுகிறது ...மீண்டும் அது ஆன் ஆகும் போது 2- 3 செகண்ட்ஸ் நேரம் விரயம் ஆகிறது.

Sir main reason for automatic is convininence sir, after driving for 7 to 8 hours getting stuck in perungalathur traffic made me to buy automatic car. I am happy about it. Just a humble thought 🙏 Also what you said is 100% true about DCT, I enquired a mechanic about dct gear box of a famous car brand and he said due to flood they have replaced and it costed around 3.5 lakhs.

I've been driving the Hyundai i20 IVT for the past year, and I'm impressed to report that it has shown no signs of lag whatsoever. In terms of fuel efficiency, I've observed the following: - Highways without AC: 26 kmpl at 1.5-2 RPM - Highways with AC: 20-21 kmpl - City: 10-15 kmpl (varies greatly) While the car has performed well overall, one major drawback is its suspension. It's extremely uncomfortable, especially when driving over white lines, which can be jarring for passengers. Aside from the suspension issues, I'm satisfied with my i20 IVT

Hello Rajesh Sir, I use CVT version. I have used AMT and AT, started with manual. As you said Manual is best for performance, however AT, AMT and CVT are comfortable now for two things. City traffic and people with left leg issues. I am one among the 2nd. So preferred Auto gear vehicle. So far right from AT till now I haven't faced any challenges as such in any of my cars. May be as you said it could be because of my cautious and steady driving also. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I am using brezza zxi AT, no nonsense transmission. Mileage around 16 to 17 kmpl... Didn't feel lag, but definitely not like dct in highways.... But it has nice balance in city and highway....

I am having Creta ivt. No rubber band effect feeling. Smooth and easy overtaking. As you told low mileage in City.

In ivt gearboxes, a chain is used, not a belt, so there is no rubber band effect.

I am using BALENO AMT. So much improvement and no lagging felt as they improved gear box very well.pick up also good and it is very good if you dont use AC. Initially we had problems but all negatives are sorted out now

You can also try for semi automatic means convert the manual clutch to semi auto clutch car just 45000 rs only convert in to semi automatic simply superb I converted for my Swift zxi Bangalore traffic city drive no pain in my leg also RTO approved 🎉

DCT GEAR BOX HEATING IS MAINLY DUE TO THE DY CLUTCH TECHNOLOGY (NO OIL) IN INDIA, BUT IN EUROPEAN COUINTRIES DCT IS WET CLUTCH (WITH OIL) AND THIS TYPE DOESN' HEAT UP THAT MUCH. THEREFORE DCT WITH DRY CLUTCH TECHNOLOGY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC, THAT TOO IN HARSH SUMMER CONDITIONS AS IN INDIA, BUT IT IS GOOD FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING.

4:44 for overthinking people (like me😅). I generally used to forget the clutch altogether while changing gear due to absent mindedness while learning bike and I'm using Activa now. If it is difficult to concentrate and multiple actions are complicated enough for our muscle memory (to remember the gears for speeds including madatory clutch press in addition to concentrating on road), can we straightaway go with buying Automatic gear or is all the above mentioned things something like not a big deal and just a matter of time to get used to.?? (Note: I can understand the gear shifting process and the internals well. But my problem is remembering and performing a repetitive mundane task with multiple actions which is too much for muscle memory. Just need a clarity on whether this is a genuine issue or am I overthinking.)

Regarding gear control 1:31 , Isn't that applicable during less than 10% of the overall car driving duration. If an AMT car has a manual mode, will this issue and then we can use Drive mode for the rest of the time. Will that work if it has manual mode???
