@7771jupiter I just happened to see this comment. I dint find anything wrong about Karnan story. Parashurama had policy that he would teach archery only to brahmins. Karna lied to him that he was a brahmin & learnt archery. 1 day when Parashurama was resting on Karna's lap an insect bit him. Even though he was bleeding Karna did not move. Parashurama woke up and saw the blood. He reasoned that no brahmin can endure such pain but only a kshatriya could and hence cursed Karna.

@7771jupiter Can't find fault with the points u mentioned. But, am just trying to provide a different perspective. Rajini's fanbase spans across people from various social sections & age groups. His movies are liked by small children to the elderly. As some say "6 to 60". So, he can't target only a particular section of the crowd. His movies will contain some magic (for children), some glamour (for the youth), some sentiments (for the ladies and elders) & some story. (to be continued ...)

@drsk77 I have no arguments and i fully respect your view. I have been his fan from the day when i saw Bhairavi at Devi Theatre, Chennai, till Guru Shishyan. Of course even in that periods, he did utter nonsense(For me!) movies like Oorkavalan, where in one scene he used to stop a jeep by tying a rope in his "Great Legs'( Not Even an Arnold Did!) and some imaginative(!) stunt sequences in Manithan, by jumping in Air, as when Rajini is up in the air, even gravitational pull is afraid to stop him!

@7771jupiter So, since his audience base is so wide, his movies make a phenomenal business which generates a lot of revenue to people involved with his film (from producers, distributors, theater owners & other related businesses). That inturn helps the film industry itself. Say for example, a theater owner can take risk in screening a new experimental movie at his theater because he has some cushion earned by the way of profits by screening a Rajini movie.

Story about Karnan is wrong. Actually it is about "Kshathriya" Vs "Shudra" ( Warriors Vs Advisors- ( Shudra means, persons who guides others, and not in today's meaning, per se).

@7771jupiter I am not questioning "Kshatriya", "Shudra" or "Brahmins" role during those ages. But, as per our mythologies, Parashurama himself was a Brahmin & had learnt the art of warfare from Lord Shiva himself. He had a vengeance against Kshatriyas & vowed to teach the art of warfare only to brahmins. Karna was not a brahmin. So, Parashurama cursed Karna when he found out that Karna had lied to him about being a brahmin.

@7771jupiter Hahaha! Nonsense and meaningful are relative terms. What is sense to you may be nonsense to someone else and same the case with meaningful. You are asking to check the Rajini movies in last 2 decades and tell me they are not meaningful entertainment. Well, if you have not been entertained by those movie I respect your opinion. But, if someone else has found these movies to be very entertaining I believe there is no reason that they should be ridiculed.

But one Good thing about Rajni is, he is honest. But as an Ex-Fan of him, i feel he has let down people like me, in not giving quality movies, and not bothered to take his fans to the next level in cinema, by acting in sensible movies. That s his biggest flaw. He never identified good talent, nurtured good, young directors. This is in spite of having made billions of Rupees and safely positioning himself in the Market. Even @ 63, he wants 2 run around trees by heroines, almost his grand daughter

@drsk77 I am afraid you are not fully right. According to Varnashrama Dharma( Which is most maligned concept in today's, "Modern Democratic" world- where none understood it the proper sense), khathriyas are warrior class and they are entitled to get trained. Brahmins are usually, not. Pandavas, Kauravas, Lord Shriram all belonged to Khatriya's class. There were very few brahmin king in those days. And the very famous one is, "Ravanan"(incidentally, DMK,DK glorify the Brahmin Ravanan!)
