Sawadee khap my farangutan brethren and Sawade Pee Mai to our puan puan khun Thai! Yes, at the time of writing we are into Songkran 2024 or Thai New Year.
As it is a holiday, I have two weeks away from work and I have been off on my travels with The Na'ster, puan John, John, Popadom and his family, The Ni'ster and The Ta'ster. A road trip no less down south to meet a Thai friend in Surat Thani. So, in this vlog we visit the scenic Rajjaprabha Dam in Khao Sok National Park and the Khao Teppitak Suspension Bridge with views of a heart-shaped mountain top.
Our friend in Surat Thani is a travel agent, so all our excursions were arranged by him. Top bloke.
Some information:
If you want to go to Rajjaprabha Dam and go on a boat on the lake, you will need to bring some cash. We paid 1,800 THB to hire a boat for a couple of hours. You can choose where to go and what to see. You also have to pay to enter Khao Sok National Park, that's an extra 200 THB as a foreigner (100 THB for children), 40 THB for Thai nationals. Then I think you are also charged a 'deck/pier fee' for going onto the pontoons to catch the boat. I think that was 40 THB for foreigners and 20 THB for Thai nationals. So, it really does feel like you're being fleeced being shuffled from one booth to the next to hand over cash. Even The Na'ster said, 'Anymore?'. 2100 THB for two hours on the lake. 57 USD or 46 GBP. Not cheap, but I have to say it was worth it to see the stunning scenery.
Like the intro music? Suno.ai. Check them out. I have just written a song called, 'Got Myself A Soi Dog'. I may do a music video for the song soon.
