Indian arm of Zorya-Mashproekt has been taken over Bharat Forge with 51% stake. So, there is a progress on marine turbine engine. Kalyani will start manufacturing these on Indian soil. The issue related to aircraft turbofan engine needs multi-pronged approach. - Get the GTRE, ADE and NAL out of DRDO and CSIR org structure respectively. This is urgent and important. An ADA like structure could be a starter. - Set aside additional fund for aerospace propulsion research and let the above units fight for it alongwith Indian universities. - Bring in metallurgy industry partners for prototype development and high temperature physics researchers in one platform - Enable the universities to host PhD students along with a set of research engineers to attack multiple challenging problems simultaneously. The PhD thesis committee should include person from Industry along with the professors. Example - A PhD student working on single crystal turbine blade can have advisor as chair, another professor and one person each from Bharat Force and TASL with relevant background. - Allows private players to use the test bed and other facilities at GTRE and NAL.
@siddharthgoyal400828 күн бұрын
Indian arm of Zorya-Mashproekt doesn't do anything other than maintain the existing engines, their "facility" does not have any forge, or metallurgical work bed etc. Even the tooling is imported for fixing alignment etc, A marine turbine engine is more or less same as aircraft turbine engine without the strict weight requirements and hence can use sturdier structures.
@prayagkumar224227 күн бұрын
@@siddharthgoyal4008 I agree that Indian unit of most of the foreign companies do not do critical manufacturing work here. In case of Zorya there is a [hope] that Bharat Forge will bring in its metallurgical and forging capabilities to do marine turbine production. Their next steps will decide whether we can convert this progress to actual achievement. The jet engine problem for India needs all hands on deck approach. We are running out of time.

She, in my humble opinion represents the true spirit of feminism (as it was originally intended to be). Reverse engineering means that India has decided not to respect intellectual property rights of their suppliers. That’s not good for India. While China may do it, but no country in the world is prepared to sell their latest technologies to China other that Chinese stealing it through unsavory means. India should build the knowledge and capacity to build its own indigenous technology and equipment albeit with strategic cooperation with partners. That’s is more sustainable than the Chinese model.

Corporate espionage, IP thief, hacking into other important secrets etc are done by every country. Its just that China does it better than anyone else. Many US defense and industrial secretes were also stolen from Europe and Russia but they won't say it. We only hear of China doing the IP thief and not the western countries because the world media is control by the west and they won't admit their own stealing of other industrial and defense secrete. 1. It was India's mistake ( UPA era and before) that we did not go for joint production with Russia- with the kind of focus we now put on Atma Nirbhar program. This has resulted in the crippling dependence on Russia that we notice today. But it is not a totally hopeless situation and we can manage it in next few years. 2. SSN Chakra - not sure if we really need it now. As regards S 400, we have paid for it and it will be delivered. We have to accept the delays as we are doing with GE for F404 engines. 3. But the fact and ground realities are simple - we cannot ignore Russia, even if we are with USA. Russia gives us many things which USA does not. And it is not a problem as such if we rely on Russia- it is a dependable ally, after all!!! And Russia needs us too, unlike USA!!
