Rajneesh (OSHO) in New Jersey: The "Orange People" of Kip's Castle. "Wild, Wild, Country"

The Kip's Castle is a beautiful castle nestled in the hills of Montclair, NJ. Built in 1901 by Frederic Kip and his Wife, Charlotte, the Castle has been passed down to many owners since 1926, when Mr. Kip sold the property after the death of his wife. In 1980, a prominent Indian Guru, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (known later as "OSHO"), bought the property before arriving in the United States. He stayed there for 3 months before moving into a 64000 acre ranch he bought in Antelope Oregon. While here, the Rajneeshees faced backlash from the residents of the town who feared that the presence of the "cult" in their town would present challenges, including their children being exposed to "radical ideas" such as free sex. By 1985, Rajneesh's personal secretary, Ma Anand Sheela, had committed some serious crimes in Oregon, and much to the relief of the people of this town in NJ and the people of Oregon, the Rajneeshees had started leaving the country. The Ranch in Oregon, and the Kip's Castle were sold off. We tour the property and try to find the locations where some of the photographs of Bhagwan and his followers were shot.

He appealed to people by basically saying they could do what they want and somehow get enlightened. I'm pretty sure what happened is nobody got enlightened and people found out there's also a downside to pleasure, as always.

No he says that to be enlightened one must first venture through the pleasures in life such as sex, meditation won’t work if you are sexually suppressed and he said to become enlightened one must move beyond sex but to do that one must submerge themselves in it and really understand it before it can be laid to rest. Not only sex but anything In You that is suppressed has to be explored before enlightenment can happen because if not you cannot be at peace with suppressed emotions in you especially sexual energy. ☮️❤️ And you are correct in saying there’s a downside to pleasure but there’s also an upside to it just as all things in life!

And he also appealed to people because he was accepting them just as they were, no judgements and there was freedom there from judgements and yeah something about freedom to be yourself appeals to people who are never accepted in society.

@@iamwhoiam7482 He went wrong saying people should submerge themselves in sex. Getting beyond anything in life doesn't mean submerging yourself in it. You just accept it for what it is. You are not a body, and submerging yourself in sex simply strengthens identification with the body, which you are not.

Osho said India was not ready for spirituality coz India was mired in poverty. It was west which was ready for it coz west was rich and satiated and ready for spirituality. (Osho clones say this too). Ifone got enlightened, and by enlightenment I simply mean cessation of desire, then all flower children of the 60s, all Tinderers of today, all wealthy paedophiles (who indulge in sex with children after getting bored of sex with choicest women), all celebrities, politicians and super wealthy and powerful people in general, all of them would be enlightened. Fact is, they become more and more depraved. Fact is that even 0.01% of the uppermost strata got enlightened the earth would be a different place.
