Completely enthralled by the Rajneeshpuram “intentional community” in Wasco County Oregon in the 1980’s fueled by the recent Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country. Ron, Ben, Brent, David and I decided to covertly go check out this “wild country” or what remains for ourselves.
Buckle up, this one gets transcendental!

So rad. Great Chapman. Love the traditional sitar-meets-Deliverance-vibe tunage, gonna add that to the hi-fi collection. I'm already thinking on what I'm going to say when you ask me about my bike someday.

I spent a weekend in that compound as part of a race event and I can confirm that the vibe in there has by no means "returned to normal". All of the isolated capabilities of the "town" e.g. water, airstrip, power, are all still intact. It can comfortably sleep just under 2k people in a sort of motel/barracks configuration. One road in, one road out. Surrounded on all sides by hills. It's a fascinating place, to be sure, but it carries a palpable unrest somehow.

I grew up racing BMX and you always ran a bigger front tire then rear tire. The rationale was you could corner harder on the bigger front tire but keep rolling resistance and rotational weight to a minimum. I think Jones bikes are made that way. Seems like it makes sense, but I am cool with 42 mm.
@EverythingsBeenDone

I was about to say the same thing haha BMX freestyle always doing the same thing. Smoother and slightly smaller rear tire with a more aggressive larger tire up front. I really want to built a BMX influenced “do everything” bike.

Been doing the larger front tire thing for the last little bit and it totally works. There's some really cool combos that channel the old Panaracer Smoke/Dart vibe (i.e. Soma Cazadero in the rear, Bruce Gordon in the front). Right now I'm running a WTB Cross Boss (35) in the back and a WTB Resolute in the front (42) and it's really nice. Feels quick on the road but really stable in the gravel. Mismatch is the shit!!

tell me more about running much wider on the front wheel. I have an old steel bianchi where on my rear the largest I can go is 30mm (any mud and i'm probably fucked), but i can probably go all the way to like a 35 or 38mm in the front. Should I try it out?

Great video but let me clear a point. In at the 06:20 the background sound nothing about Rajneeshpuram or Hindu or something. It's Arabic and reading verses from Quran (Holy book of Islamic fate). Probably you might know, Islam and Hinduism have no any connection. Weird detail but I just wanted to put it to the table.
