Lakshya was a box office failure bcz of its dull screenplay. The film was over 3 hrs long & you need an engaging screenplay. Lakshya, Swades, Dunki etc all suffer from the same problem. Brilliant idea but boring screenplay

Nothing can match the authenticity of lakshay. It has encouraged and made a life of many boys including me. Any Aspirants, who has undergone SSB process, must have watched lakshay many time. In my College days, dialogues of lakshay were in our tongue especially "boys have done it" "bilkul fail" and many more. Even if we take its lyrics and melodies, do we have any substitution about its perfection. Farhan " सही चीजों की आदत इस कौम को नहीं है, इनकी नाकामी का रंग खुद पे फेकना यह सही नहीं है, वो जागते है जब वक्त चला जाता है, सब जागते है तब जब वक्त भी वक्त को भूल जाता है, हिन्दुस्तानियों को फरेब का रंग चढ़ा हुआ है, अपना घर खंडार, पड़ोसी का महल लगता है.....सही चीजों की आदत इस कौम को नहीं है....." Farhan might have thinking from commercial purpose as witnessing not good response after giving a mega hit like Dil Chahta hai, would have caused him to go into depression. In the same breath, I want to highlight the concern about the Indian film market that most of the India audience want to watch the good content and often complaint about lack of availability but ain't it is a responsibility of ourselves to give a response to good content. A film without head and toe are getting hits but film like laapta ladies has to be released in the OTT.

Lakshya is one of my favourite films.. Amazing script and emotion.. However, what I feel is there was 10-15 mins extra focus on the war. The story on its own was amazing (about a guy who finds purpose in life through army).. Had the second half focused on Hrithik and not the war, audiences may have received it well. Secondly, I feel back then the appetite for such movies in India was not that much, and I'm sure the movie would be a blockbuster if it was released in the last 5 years

I saw Lakshaya on big screen in the famous theatre the "Chanakya" in Delhi, and trust me I feel proud that I saw that movie on the big screen, the mountain ranges was showed in this movie was greates of all time. Even the story of the movie, the relationship between a father and a son becomes strong in the end, the couple who were left each other, rejoins again, everything becomes good in the end of the movie, I love the way you wrote the story sir.
