Honourable member of constituent assembly Maulana Abul Kalam Azad speech is the best part of this episode. I, firmly, believe that our National language must be "hindustani". No matter we adopted "Hindi" officially as our National language, people still speak only in "Hindustani" not in "hindi". Maulana Abul Kalam said, "you can't make any law or impose restriction on any language. No law can be made to bind langauages." हमारी लिखने की लिपि देवनागरी है। लेकिन आज हम जो बोल रहे हैं उसमे लगभग 60 प्रतिशत शब्द उर्दू या अन्य भाषा के है। और हिंदी भाषा की यही खासियत है कि वह सबको अपने में इस प्रकार समा लेती है या समेट लेती कि उसकी अलग से पहचान ही नहीं रहती।

Abul Kalam Azad himself was linguistic he understand language cannot be locked up by simple piece of legislation ....... Language evolve and it will continue to evolve.... It's been said at one point of time Sanskrit was mother tongue of majority Indian but it evolved in Pratik then various other Indo Aryan language like Hindi , Marathi , Gujarati n so on .... And it will continue on evolving the process take place because of Surrounding and Circumstances....

I want to suggest that could you make videos on other acts passed by the parliament and framed by the legislature? If you could make such kind of videos than it will be a revolutionary step towards learning of various laws too. It will increase the imagination of students regarding understanding of laws too.

From this episode it seems that Hindi was adopted as Indian national language. But, The Constitution of India does not give any language the status of national language. The Constitution of India designates a bilingual approach for "official language" of the Government of India employing usage of Hindi written in the Devanagari script, as well as English. The Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution lists 22 languages, which have been referred to as "scheduled languages" and given recognition, status and official encouragement.

tECHnOpinion You just echoed my point and yet I'm wrong? I said India does not have a National language, rather it have 2 "official languages" and 22 "scheduled languages" under 8th schedule of our Constitution. I think it is a good compromise rather than declaring Hindi as one and only national language, where we have Gurmukhi, Bengali and Tamil which are equally rich languages as Hindi. FYI, Pakistan also declared Urdu as their single national language which led to a civil war and creation of Bangladesh. Migrant workers within the country are beaten up by political parties that are reactionary parties. It is not possible to entirely eliminate these reactionary elements and have an utopian all inclusive democracy where more than 40% people still can hardly sign there name. In my view, call me an Nehruvian, the best way to ensure India's integrity is to recognise and foster the huge cultural differences that her society embodies.

The parliament was dominated by one party but was more accomodate of views of the others . Ambedkar the chairman of the drafting committee was not congressi. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was also a part of the government. Moreover the Congress itself had a vibrant inner party democracy and was truly and umbrella organization of all sorts of views. The pre Indira Congress was a fairly democratic institution which is incomparable to any political party in the present.
