It had been successful because we had been offering water, unconditionally. Secularism in Bhaarata is alive because of Hindoos and NOT any other community. Nehru as such was very kind, he gave two third of J&K to Pakistan and China, offered a huge sum of money to Pakistan at behest of his godfather Mohandas. He never was at ease with Sardaar Patel who assimilated all the states into Union of Bhaarata. He was so kind that he didn't intervene during Chinese accession of Tibbet. How can anyone be unhappy with such Uncle Jawaahar?

I didn't get the logic of signing this treaty. Why has India signed a treaty which assigned only 20 % of Indus water to her while Pakistan was assigned 80% water share.. It's detrimental for the development of J&K.. Isn't it??

Humanity I guess, because once it was a part of our country and they are largely dependent on the water of Indus. You can't deprive someone from water atleast! Also if you Know about the five principles of peaceful co-existence popularly Panchsheel then you must know "Equality and Co-operation for mutual benefit" is one of them, So may be we're going by the principle! And I don't think J&K are deprived from the water as 20% of would be enough for a state.

May be I can answer this Because we Indians have lot of big Rivers to fulfill our need of water and Pakistan's agriculture widely depends on the Indus water. This treaty works as a life line for the pakistan. The 80-20 thing may sound unfair.

@@nehasayshie you are uninformed miss. JnK assembly has passed a resolution in 2003 and in 2016 again to abrogate IWT. There are the worst sufferer from this treaty and frustrated too. Moreover India is not a water surplus country we are water stressed. Indus rivers could have been used in rajasthan, haryana, delhi and western up which are arid or semi arid. Reciprocity is the first principle of diplomacy. Presenting other cheek to get slapped again is foolish.

A stern warning to Pakistan should be made regarding withdrawing from the treaty on another cowardly attack by Pakistan. Once we have substantial proof that the proxy attack was funded by Pakistan only, we must not shy away from scrapping the treaty unilaterally and slowing down the water flow. It'd be one cruel step to stop a million more.

Dear friends I am from Srinagar resident of Jammu kashmir... Indus water treaty is biggest injustices done to Jammu and Kashmir because we are no where a party to it.. as these are state resources and first beneficiaries should be jammu kashmir... later a cooperative federal principle should be followed.... these resources could alleviate poverty in Jammu and Kashmir enrich employment and gradually change the hearts of alienation of people of jk towards India... anyways politics and pseudo nationalists won’t understand my point... please don’t use abusive language.... It's not between two indian states but two nations, so the sole authority to decide is the federal Govt. Kindly look at the Spending of Govt per capita in j&k vs any other state of the Union, before claiming alienation of people. Their is one mistake.......Not all Rivers which are part of Indus river system originate in Tibet.Actually, only Indus & Sutlez originates in Tibet.While Jhelum rises from a lake near verinag(J&k).Chenab & Beas originates in Himachal pradesh.RSTV needs to be more careful with its content.

Why not interlink Indian rivers (Ravi, Beas, Satluj) and divert them to dry regions in our country? Build East & West Canals from Punjab and HP to Gujarat and UP, so that 0 water flows into Pakistan from Ravi, Beas and Satluj

India going to neutralize Indus Water Treaty(1960) In 3 Phases.. Phase 1-India deviate water in 3 southern Indus tributaries Sutlej, Beas and Ravi making Punjab, Rajasthan(IG Canal) and Banks of Yamuna(SY Link) More irrigated. It adversily affect Pak Punjab Phase 2-India deviate water in Northern Indus rivers Chenab, Jhelum and Indus making Kashmir, Ladakh get more irrigated. It will dry up PoK, Northern Pakistan Phase 3-The water from Indus tributaries will deviate to Peninsular Rivers by Water Corridors. Summer flood water in Indus rivers will byepass to Cauvery, Godawary, Kirishna, Tapti and Narmada Completion of 3 phases make exponential growth in agriculture and Power Generation.Moreover,the dams built in these Indus Rivers not only serve as Drying agents for Pakistan but also act as Waterbombs during war time.!!!

OK, why should we abide by the treaty done by the impotent PM of India, the guy who suppose to support our troops in 1962 with China, he was hiding in Nandi Hills (As per my father narration ,) I was 2 years old then, I am writing this after the fact of Phulwama, We will make the Pakistan Dry.
