@@shadowmod3must admit that I was shocked when I saw the reports in 2023 of forced and indentured labor (modern slavery it's called) still happening in Mauritius today. And I've got to dig further into it because I have been kind of bouncing around the idea of retiring there one day. But when I saw that it gave me great pause. Of course that's not going to be mentioned.

Blame the brits and United States. They coined the notion black. 20 million Indians (Roma) are living in slums in Eastern Europe and who similarly came as slaves, but because there is no notion of brown people, people India or Pakistan don't get bothered. It's just a result of semantics

As a Indian I landed here after just watching several videos from Mainland Africans sharing there experience of acute racism, rudeness and discrimination against Africans especially black Africans by mauritians. I am both shocked and saddened by this. Is this true? I hear mauritians dont smile much and dont say hello or bye. Surprised how are they dealing with tourists ? I also hear they love white tourists europpeans and americans are welcome with open hands and at airports over 80% of black africans are stopped, questioned, searched and rudely questioned.. Gosh this is embarrassing because I just checked the demographics in wikepedia. It says over 60% of mauritius are Indo-creole descended and hinduism is the most practiced religion so it must have a huge indian heritage. Why are you guys so racists then ? Please stop it!!!! I always wanted togo to mauritius but now I am not so sure. As a Indian I have special love for africans and don't judge them for their poverty or violence or crime or whatever negativity is spread out there in social media. Africa is our mother civilization and its people are the heart of this planet. Treat them correctly!!!!!

Sometimes it's best to go and experience things first hand. Social media have a lot of keyboard warriors that love to throw things out proportion.
