Keezhadi study dates back to only 600BCE (2600 years back from present). The Rakhigarhi DNA (a complete set of DNA of a Woman decipered) dates to 2500 BCE (4500 years back from present). Both neither proves nor disproves the Aryan Invasion Theory. All it says Indian people of present (both North & South Indians) are pretty much indegenious both genetically & culturaly. In that sense Aryan Invasion is put to question.

you miss an important point that After the split into Ancient North Indian and Ancient South Indian genes, there was extreme mixing between these as well. so much so that even if you take 10 Punjabis , you will find some traces of Ancient South Indian genes and if you take 10 malayalis, you will find some traces of Ancient North Indian genes. Populations in central India have almost 50-50 mixing of Ancient South Indian and Ancient North Indian genes.

lol no..because that's what the genetics studies reveal.. Just google "ANI & ASI Indian genetics" on google and read all details.. Also empirically speaking, look at the physical traits of populations... if ANI & ASI remained separate with 0% mixing, A distinct physical trait group would have presented itself - All North Indians would be a lighter shade of brown than the South - Today on an average, this is true , but at an individual level, you will find North Indians with darker brown skin (even in Punjab)and South Indians with light brown skin

You said that steppe(r1a1 gene) + ivc=Ancestral North Indians and adaman aborigines+ivc= ancestry South Indian. But you forgot to mention that there was heavy intermixing of both ancestral north and South Indians after that. So even today the steppe r1a1 gene is found in some tribal areas in Tamil Nadu.

But the density of Aryan or R1A1 genes in North Indians which wasn't there in the sub continent at the time of Indus valley civilisation is very high whereas the density of genes Indus people are very high in South Indians indicating they are of different lineage. Over time after Indus valley some mixing of genes is quite natural. Modern Brahmins and upper caste can try hard but cannot hide from their foreign Aryan lineage and even Sanskrit is a Indo European language whereas the Indus valley language is Dravidian

Firstly, this is a commendable effort to provide UNBIASED and USABLE information. This to the point informative piece of knowledge will contribute a lot to those who actually need it. Secondly, from the point of view of an Indian, it is clearly irrelevant whether Indians contain foreign genes or not. Aryan migration might have occurred and that can be investigated/corroborated using religious texts if necessary. Being an invader does not necessarily put one in the category of British or Arabs. Sakas, Huns and Khushans were once invaders, too, but very soon they had adopted Indian culture and aassimilated into Indian society rather than imposing upon the indegenous people their own faiths.

Thanks for the unbiased analysis of the topic. To point out an observation, the R1a1 group commonly referred to as 'Aryan gene' here is found in males. Even if the gene were present in people contemporary to the Rakhigarhi sample it would not be found as the skeleton found is a female skeleton. Though the mass movement of 'Steppes' is theorized to have happened much after the mature period of IVC(from which the sample belongs to), definitely more study of ancient gene samples from IVC and following times would make it clearer. I really hope the researchers receive enough cooperation from people and the Government of India.

Why does India have the highest diversity of R1a? How come Rigveda talks about Saraswati river flowing (roaring) from mountains to the ocean? and is called grandest among other sister rivers, as per geological studies. Saraswati completly dried about 4000 years ago. Saraswati only flowed from Mountains to ocean about 10,000 years ago or likely earlier. As Satluj(which was feeding Saraswati) started parting away 15000 years ago and completely turned west 8000 year ago. I think as paper mentioned, that more IVC DNA is required from different time periods to make assertions. The IE language theories are highly flawed as per my studies. where DNA can only provide "likely" migration scenario data. But there is NO concrete proof that languages came with migrations? Neither do the papers make any such claim.

I remember reading an article published in American journal of human genetics by AK pathak and Gyaneshwar chaubey on genetic analysis of present day populations in haryana. They compared both maternal and paternal sides of story. Turns out there is this Ror community in haryana who have the highest amount of steppe gene and makes them the closest present day relatives of ancestral north indian stock(earlier the Kalash people in Swat Valley in pakistan were considered closest to ANI people) other communities with substantial similarities were khatri, Jats and Pathans. Linguistics and DNA ancestry are two different things. There is a thing called Lingustic deconstruction. This has shown that Ancient Greek, Vedic Sanskrit, Ancient Latin, Old Perian and some older Turkic languages have many similar sounding words, or have same word roots.Therefore all these ancient languages are related to each other, and have a common ancestor language - the Proto-Indo-European language which originated in Central Asia (not Europe). This Proto-Indo-European language spoken by nomadic peoples of Central Asia (not Europe) from the Neolithic period to the Bronze Age, is the grandmother of almost all modern languages spoken in North India, Sri Lanka, Iran, Central Asia and Europe (as proven by linguistic reconstruction and phonetic correlation). As regards to DNA ancestry, then that proves this even more. Most Indian people have been found to have two sets of different chromosomes. One set is a common chromosome also found in people of Middle East, Central Asia, Anatolia, North Africa and Eastern Europe. The other set of chromosomes that Indian have is only found in people of Indian Subcontinent. This (coupled with lingustic historiography and carbon dating) proves that towards the end of Bronze Age, there was a heavy intermixing of native and foreign populations in Indian Subcontinent. Man, this is all scientific evidence and theory. Throw away the politics and look at it from a neutral perspective. Most of the scientifc research points towards this direction, that these Central Asian (not European) Indo-Aryans migrated (not invaded) into the Indian Subcontinent, where they interacted with the locals (Indus Valley people) and intermixed with them. There was an obvious cultural exchange, with the now inter-mixed Indo-Aryans learning the art of agriculture from Indus Valley people. Indo-Aryans also incorporated a number of practices and customs of the Indus Valley Peolle into their own religion, like bathing in water during prayers, swastika, cremation, worshipping trees etc. Similarly, Indus Valley people (& other natives) got introduced to Iron by Indo-Aryans. The Proto-Indo-Iranian language evolved incorporated a few words from the native languages, thus forming Vedic Sankrit. So in a way, the Hinduism of Vedic Period was actually a blend of the old religion of Indo-Aryans and the religion of Indus Valley people. Also, it's quite clear that in a few generations, these Indo-Aryans and Indus Valley People (& other natives) had gotten so much intermixed that they eventually became one single culture - the Vedic Culture. Hinduism was not formed only by natives or foreigners, it was actually a result of the Harmonious blend of both native and foreign ideas, practices, customs, beliefs and traditions, which also explains why Hinduism is such a diverse religion in itself. Well Explained dr. Several questions.. 1. Hindu religion is not known for burrying their dead, is the corspe found proof of that? 2. The genealogy as mentioned of the Aryan people is not found within the IvC which as stated suuggests their migration was post IVC or close to the end.
