It's a delicate balance, making good hay! Looks like you guys have it under control. Grass looks good!

The balance is how well do you trust the weatherman. Thank you.

Oh those little pop up showers that make baling hay so much fun ! LOL Got to love them ! But I don't know about you but I never complain about rain in August ! Keep up the great work and videos JB ! Bandit

I like August rain, when comes in time with whats forecasted. I wish we had rain Tuesday, but it all missed us.

I was hopeing we would get a good rain out of that one but we didn't. I was looking at my beans last night and its funny to see beans that are full of pods and filling them and to see beans in the next row blooming ! I think when I go to cut these I'll have beans dryer than a popcorn fart and butter beans at the same time trying to cut them ! Going to be interesting for sure ! Bandit

Squares are the name of the game, unless its too weedy.

If your worried about a little moisture, stack it cut side up and throw a handful of salt on each bale. That will dry it out and help prevent the bales from heating up in the barn.

I have heard of the salting thing. Hopefully, I am baling dry hay. I usually leave it on the wagons a couple days before unloading too.

That's some thick hay how many acres? What year is your round baler
@boehmfarm42767 жыл бұрын
This has already been rakes together. The whole set of fields is 20 acres. I would place our round baler in the 70's.

nice video do you ever use a tedder to fluff the wet hay to help it to dry faster ? i enjoy all your videos .
@boehmfarm42767 жыл бұрын
We do not own a tedder. Brad really wants one, but I think it's not a good use of resources with our mower/conditioner. If we cut on a Monday, we can bale Wednesday. Without a microwave, I doubt we could ever mow one day and bale the next, unless it's a bad drought.

Did ya getter baled up and in the dry?
@boehmfarm42767 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has twine around it and in the barn.
@rogerwilson93617 жыл бұрын
Jacob, it looks good enough to bale but rain does tends to come when it not need lol. You and Brad need to take some time and take hike before corn and soybeans come in to be combine but like all farms just not enough time in a day.
@boehmfarm42767 жыл бұрын
The top looks fine, but the bottom was less than desirable. I didn't want to chance wet hay. We'll go hiking in early October.
