He also suggested Marathas to use guerilla warfare against superior afghan forces but Sadashiv Bhau ignored him. After Marathas raided Delhi, Surajmal was offended and he left the Marathas and returned back. After Panipat, the wounded Maratha soldiers who came back, were treated by Surajmal and they were safely sent back to Maratha kingdom.

It is said that third battle of Panipat was fought between Maratha's and Ahmed Shah Abdali.But later on it was won by Sikhs. Sikhs through out Afghans soon after third battle of Panipat. They established Sikh rule in this area. So sacrifice of Maratha didn't went in vain.Sikh empire worked as shield and stopped western attackers. So as per historians third battle of Panipat was lost by Marathas, but as per my views it was a overall victory for Indian to stop the western attackers. Actually it were Marathas who sacrificed there lives to stop western attackers. So a great respect for Great Maratha.

In 2011, to observe the 250th anniversary of this battle, several Marathas started a bike ride to Panipat and Karnal, the site of the camping and the battle, the poor fellows couldn't cope with the cold climate of the region. Another problem with this revisionism is that it misses the point that there was no concept of nationalism at the time, hence the intolerance of the Marathas, towards the Sikhs, an emerging people who were suffering horrors at the hands of the Mughals first and then the Afghans, every time Abdali invaded. Marathas actually sided with Adina Beg,, the devious politician of Punjab, during 1756-57. They did manage to push as far as Attock, however they were not able to contain it for long. And besides, nobody accepted the Marathas in the Punjab, and Adina Beg Khan needed them only for his survival.

Sameer Chakravorty no mistake of Sadashivraobhau. When Marathas captured Delhi and Kunjpura; maratha troops should have gone back to Delhi. But due to 100000 family members who were brought along urged to do dharmik duties on kurukshetra which was a blunder. This did not happen because of Sadashivrao0

But a bullet from Abdali's army killed Vishwasrao peshwa; which led to unnecessary withdrawal of troops. We could have won if we didn't loose our morale due to endof Vishwasrao peshwa

Sikhs, Rajputs and Jats could have helped Marathas. But, Marathas were getting greedy for more land and money. Hence, they all step back. Abdali paid the Sikhs Rs. 30,000 for safe passage through Punjab. When abdali was taking all the women folk of marathas that came along as pilgrims to Kurukshetra to Afghanistan after the Panipat Battle. Then the Sikhs attacked their forces night after night on their way back and helped release prisoned Women. That really established the characters of sikh and then people started calling Sikhs in Punjab for any help.

The main cause of the decline of the Durrani dynasty was the loss of thousands of battle hardened troops against the Marathas and relentless efforts of the Sikhs. there was a great loss of Durrani Empire's military power in the entire struggle. Maharaja Ranjit Singh took an advantage of loosening Durrani control over Punjab due to weakening of power in the struggle against Marathas, rose into rebellion and eventually united under Ranjit Singh. They captured Amritsar (1802), Ludhiana (1806), Multan, Kashmir, Ladakh, Peshawar, the Khyber Pass and Lahore. 😂😂. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and other side: visaji pant Beniwal(Maratha)🚩🚩 In February 1772, along with Mahadji Shinde, he overpowered the Rohilkhand at Shukratal by defeating Zabita Khan. He took severe revenge of the defeat of Panipat by breaking the tomb of Najib Khan, by loot*** the artillery and wealth of the Rohillas and by recovering from them an additional tribute of Rs.40 lakhs. In 1772 Marathas capture Delhi again. With this battle they regained their lost supremacy in North India after the Third Battle of Panipat and conquered much of the lost territories which they lost after the Third Battle of Panipat. 🚩🚩🚩🚩

Maratha got defeated just because of lack of food. Maratha army was fighting with hunger in their stomach for over 4 days. moreover there were tens of thousands of civilians who came along with the army for pilgrimage to Mathura and Kashi. so they also needed to be fed. and our fellow north Indian kingdoms rejected to give ration to Maratha army. Nevertheless we managed to retain our empire for next 50 years. And Afghans couldn't bear the shock of this war and fell down within next 8 years.

It's a fact. History cannot be changed. Mard Marathas ruled India. One of the major factors of Maratha loosing the battle was their food supply was cut off for month and they brought families with them. The second factor was against Chh. Shivaji Maharaj's Principals. And most importantly Marathas had fought open battle many and won. Panipat was not their first open battle. After Panipat, Mahadji Shinde took revenge by punishing the traitors and regained control of Delhi.Then Abdali never came again. Please show this also.

I’m an Afghan and in Sultan Ahmad Shah Abdali’s defense the reason why he slaughtered everyone in support of war against Afghans, was because before the war of panipat marathas captured some Afghan soldiers and starved most of them to death. It was his way of displaying his anger.
