About burning Raku
Raku is a fascinating ceramic processing technique, quite rarely practiced in Romania. It is a spectacular technique due to the transparency of the process, namely the opening of the kiln in a state of incandescence, followed by the introduction of the pieces into a reducing atmosphere (dissipation of oxygen). It's like knowing what's going on behind the curtain before the play starts. Each result from these combustion techniques is a unique result of their exposure to the reducing atmosphere. Color effects cannot be reproduced from one track to another, even when tracks and stages are identical. Raku is always a surprise. It is a technique of emotions, color effects can describe the author's emotions and character.
The Raku technique dates back to 16th century Japan and still has a lot to tell, and you will find out more at the event.
The event is coordinated by Ciprian Ariciu, plastic artist, graduate of the National University of Arts - Ceramics section of the Department of Decorative Arts and Design of Romania, member of the Plastic Artists Union form Romania , member of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva.
