In my view producer pays only to use the music and songs, not to own the music and songs. The creation is a process which only happens when you put yourself completely into it. Money alone can never create music that these have created. Just by paying money the producer cannot buy the soul of the music that’s created. You can keep asking things like why the hell did the music composer get money then. As I said, the money is to use the music. This is a practice done across the world and not just by raja or Rahman. It’s universal

@@KesavaJ Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I am tempted to contest your universal context. In the West a legal contract clearly states what belongs to whom. To this day if anyone uses the theme music of Godfather 1, the royalty goes to the person or company who owns the rights to the movie and not the composer. In our tradition the classical ragas cannot be owned by anyone even if some one tries to file a copyright for obvious historical reasons. In the present context the producer does sell the music and does not pay royalty to the composer. In the case of Ilayaraja claiming royalty from SPB for songs used in his public concerts, brought the spotlight on to this grey area. It unfortunately is still very gray which is characteristic of our culture and long history.

Rahman fought for it several years ago( not retrospectively) and nowadays he makes sure that a part of royalty stays not just with him but all singers and lyricist too. That’s why if you see his albums on the past several years, all the singers too share them in the yt channels. Ofcourse you can ask royalty only for songs you have already have rights. For those yesteryear songs which Illayaraja claims is not legally right, but morally it’s right. But the way he behaved for that is very objectionable though

Because of we, Ilayaraja did not get Oscar. He should not have born in Tamil Nadu. He should have born as a cousin to Rajamouli and Danne Boyle. They would have taken to him to Oscar stage many times for his excellent scores. ARR and Keeravani knows the value of Ilayaraja. We know only to earn money in channels by abusing him and eat food from that money. Does anyone speak about struggles Ilayaraja has undergone to come up to this level. Only the dark side which every one of us have is exposed in media for him. ARR recent interview will show case the admiration he has for Ilayaraja. He has told no one is perfect here. Did Balachander, Bharathiraja did not scould anyone with bad words during shooting? Did TMS and Kannadasan did not degrade Ilayaraja in his initial days for pleasing MSV. Kannadasan son has revealed in an interview that his father has written scolding Ilayaraja for pleasing MSV. At that time media was not there. So all of them have become GOD except Ilayaraja. 1500 flims with 40 pages scoring sheet for each flim. In total 60000 pages for cine music. For non-cinematic albums he would have written so many. We do not know the count. Also how many scoring sheets he would have rejected and gone to dustbins. How fast his creative brain would have worked to write them. Next generation should know how creativity was handled at super fast speed. But seeing such interview, next generation will not know his good works. We never tell good things to next generation. At 80 years he has given an HIT album with 3 hit songs for Vetrimaran's Viduthalai. There was no one before him or will be after him to do this at 80 years. We don't have time to talk about his creative part. For money and content sake we abuse him in channels continusly. This shows our thinking. If Oscar meets Ilayaraja, it will say I am proud to meet you. You have upgraded my standard and will hug him.

Seyyaaru balu only blame Isaignani side, he never indicate & blame the other faults, because of if he criticize Ilaiyaraaja, he can get lot of viewers, ARRehman gets Oscar award, there are lots of politics reasons to get Oscar awards. Jai ho song did not touch Music lovers taste, not a hit list song.
