Had to check this out ha! I am 51 now and still remember my Grifter , cleaning the wheels and spokes with brasso and polishing the frame with Pledge furniture polish, she was immaculate lol. Was my pride and joy. Good times!

Was born in 72. Such great times. And imagination was what we had in spades. Went out to play in the morning and didn't come back in till mum shouted dinner time. We're only allowed to go as far as the end of the road. Dinner eaten and then back out again making dens and playing Kerby until someone shouted CAR at a million decibels or the ice cream man played his tune. Happy days and memories that are so missed. I got a red grifter for Christmas 1977 best present I got from my lovely mum and dad times were tough and couldn’t believe my luck! Infact a few years ago I bought a rusty old one of eBay for nostalgia to do up..still in back of garage but I will do one day and always think back..thanks ma your the best I love yaxx

That’s exactly when I got my Red Grifter. Xmas 77, 10 years of age. I rode approx a mile or so to a family friend on an errand…..Like a boss! 😁

Best childhood memory was Christmas morning 1980ish coming downstairs and seeing a spanking blue Raleigh Grifter on its stand 😌 it was central Scotland and I'd to wait till after new year till the snow had gone to get out and dodge the leftover ice piles...but I was out all day...I LOVED my Grifter...LOVED it ♥️

I remember this advert from 1976 I think it was. I got a Strika as birthday gift for my 7th birthday which was in 1976. So thank you who ever you are for putting this advert on here. Its took me back in time by 42 years! You are the best.

I remember my Grifter with the black electrical tapped seat as they always split but I loved it I swapped my aging chopper for it.

Now the bike industry is all Malaysian components outsourced by Japan assembled into bikes in Taiwan. It’s not surprising really given our mass market efforts. Detested my Grifter - it was like pedalling with stuck on brakes.

I had a blue one of these although it's wasn't from new, so the saddle had already split, and it needed new tyres, so didn't have the original "hexagon" ones. I recently wanted to restore it, and give it to my son, but unfortunately my parents threw it out a few years ago.
