@Dealer Mike I know what you're saying especially with stone chips/scratches etc but Skyways need to pop in the sun! 🌞 8 quid and thirty minutes later and you'll remove years of sun fade. 😀 It would make a great video! I didn't bother removing anything from the wheel except the tyre. Once it was done I blow dried behind the alloy flange and sprayed a shed load of wd40 in there. 😆

Yellow dot grips were on the mk2, the mk1 has viscount blue/black foam grips. The skyways need to be redone, they are sunbleached. The crank needs a blue cup to cover the release nut (You're never getting one of those, mine is original). You shouldn't ride that bike. It attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes. Drivers rubber neck, pedestrians shout out "Hey, is that a Burner?", when it's parked up everyone takes photos and even when you're sat down people approach you and talk about it. Everyone smiles as you ride by them and kids point and ask eachother what bike is that? It get's pretty bad. Just an interesting little tid bit. There's an episode of Grange Hill where this bike gets stolen, it's on Season 7 Episode 15 (I think).

Cracking comment thank you. The bike was sold about 2 months after this video. I made on it. I was pleased. It sat for a long time in a barn in Norfolk untouched. Those viscounts aren't cheap, you are right though about them. The skyways were very discolored but they looked 'honest'. I rode it a few times and people did ask questions.... I'll happily get another one

@@dealermike1331 they are a sight for sore eyes, as a kids burner frames were everywere ,i had a red 1 ,very rare now ,i dont see them in the wild anymore on states

@@dealermike1331 thanks for the reply. Here in the US we have Raleigh rampars an for a couple of yrs Mongoose rampars.. Most common color schemes for both was blue/yellow. But each company had several different colors to choose. Mongoose rampars frames came in 3 colors... Transparent blue, transparent red an plain nickel. I still need to post my blue/yell mongoose rampar. Mongoose rampars have a sticker "R" on the front side gusset plate which is flat. Where the Raleigh rampar is stanped with an "R".

As for dating a mongoose. 70s mongoose an early 80s mongoose with the side plate have a serial number sequence that always begins with a "C" = Chatsworth (California), then the second letter is for the month (A = Jan, B = Feb etc...) Then the following 1st number is the year (5 = 75, 6 = 76 etc) the remaining numbers is the sequence. In 83 the serial number sequence did change. Dropping off the first "C" due to mongoose sourcing out some of their frame making to Taiwan.

Hi Mike I'm sorry to say this but black forks and bars don't look right to me on a blue bike looks totally odd to me but as long as you love it that's the main thing. Did they come factory in black forks on a blue bike? Its crying out for a good clean up mate lol 😂. Cheers 🍻.

@@stuartliddle7228 Hi mate had to ask but doesn't look right to me, so they came factory like that well I am surprised. I've got a mk1 Grifter in red with black forks only cos they've been replaced at sometime I spose and that bugs the hell out of me lol 😂.

Hi paul.. yeah 100%. This bike is factory spec. Some say the viscout grips were added at factory, yeah they were an option but also were the blue and yellow dotty grips. The forks and bars were black when I bought it but the condition was so bad they desperately needed a paint. The chap who done the paint said the bearings were the worst he had seen. I think we were both i agreement this bike had a very well used hard first 3 years then it just sat unloved for the next 30.. it'll get a clean but nothing to strenuous 😂
